Not been to one myself but at these events or private parties is there a lot of organising to be done in terms of the venue decor or equipment?

you thinking of organising something? i'm sure there'd be people willing to help you if you asked.

It's pretty much like organising any event. Hire a venue, send out invitations, get a feel for numbers, sort out food/music/entertainment.

I'd aim for a venue that doesn't charge for room hire, local pub with a function room is usually a good starting point. If it's a social occasion rather than play party of course... if not speak to one of the clubs. Have a look through the meets and events section and get some advice from the people who run bigger socials.

Good luck
