burnt 300 calories cutting veg.

Although its great that i can do an easy task to most of you (though its probably all of you) it drains me and takes a lot of energy for me to do it.

So yes i'm feeling pretty darn good about it as it means i have a roast dinner prepped and ready to cook tonight, i have a veg soup for the lunchtimes i've no energy, and veg for salad that i can just 'grab & go'

Preparation is the key, as long as everything is to hand then you can just sail through the rest of the day

im guilty of buying pre chopped veg as its more convienient but after crimbo im trying to be a bit more thrifty with money..

asda were selling bags of carrots for 40p instead of £1 for 500g of batton ones..

i suffer with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (hurts to hold/cut/grip) so i spent over an hour this morning using all my strength to plough through the bag of carrots, dice a se, slice a cucumber, dice an onion, peel spuds and prep a broccolli..

hense why i burnt so many calories as i really had to work hard to do it.

Im desperate to loose weight and like you said prep is the key!

It so is, plus not buying pre packed, precut is better for your pocket, I understand mobility can be an issue but you are trying your best, it's all you can do until you lose a little weight and things become easier, I hope you succeed no matter how long it takes xx

Well done you. I can imagine that it would take a lot of effort with your condition. I have MS so sometimes normal things like walking a mile to the shop can be an effort for me but I make myself do it to keep my muscles active. Need to call in at the pub sometimes for a rest and refreshment. Jack

hehe @ the pub.. needs must and all that

Im not quite sure how my medical issues effect me though i get tired super quick from small things lately. Had to sit down to do the washing up and the other day it took me 2 mini sessions to complete it as my arms just ached so much. My head never felt so heavy.

But life goes on and i have to get on with things.. i just take longer.

Though on one side of things ive decided that dusting skirting boards really is irrelevant right now :D

Yeah the pub is my reward lol. Fuck the skirting boards, life's too short. Just do what you can and look after yourself. Have you been to the docs? I'm no expert but dont think carpal tunnel would cause you to get tired very quickly darl but I may be wrong.

Hey Kitty.. yeah i get those in both of my wrists.

works for a bit but comes back. I dont think this cold weather helps either so i wear gloves to keep warm.

I never suffered before my thyroid went belly up so hoping when that gets sorted things will return to 'normal' .. i was offered surgery but i cant quite justify that ordeal at the moment. Id rather tollerate the injections to the into the wrist.

"i suffer with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (hurts to hold/cut/grip) "

I have done some work for CTS sufferers. If you have a crafts person near to you who works with wood, custom handles can make a world of difference.

in a nutshell the handle needs to be sized to your hand to get maximum contact at a comfortable fist closure Normally large handles so the fist is relaxed not tight, and blade angles are the key.

I work with plasticine to get hand size / shape, and angle the blade so the cut force comes from the elbow not the wrist.

Worth a bit of experimenting, I have an artist customer who after daily chores could only hold a paint brush for minutes a day, who now paints again, and is confident enough to take commission work. So I know it works.

Forgot to say, the biggest problem with most kitchen utensils is they require you to grip them to stop them twisting in use.

If you prefer to give your money to a Chinese mega corp. type company and let local artisans starve and freeze to depth then pop into any disabled aids shop, arthritis aids will also help Carpel Tunnel problems.
