I'm sure plenty of people are lying about their age. I am, but I just made myself a bit older because I don't like filling in my real date of birth on websites.

I don't really care if people lie, so long as their photos are recent and accurate.

Personally I don't see the point in lying about my age. I really don't see how it achieves anything.

I actually came across a profile somewhere (can't remember if it was on fab or another site) where a woman had set up a profile with an age of 32 - and then admitted in profile text that she was, in fact, 63.

The most resent pic is a face pic from boxing day taken at around 4am after a long day drinking My oldest pic is from 2 years ago but its set to private,

I was going to say I have seen loads of pictures where their age doesn't match their picture, But if you seen me you would say the same

Age filters are bollocks. A number of women have got in touch with me despite me being outside their age range and stated preferences

Yep, most guys we've met have shaved a few years off their age. In fact I've now made it a bit of a joke where I make a point of asking their real age when we meet.

I don't admit my chronological age to anyone or in any public forum except to people who know me very well-- family, close friends. The reason for this is that I actually do look, feel, and have the energy and playfulness of a younger person-- thanks to genetics, diet, and exercise (but of course more wisdom

). Instead, I list my "true spirit age". Moreover, I socialize with people far younger than me. Otherwise, completely honest and open.

I genuinely do not understand this mentality if I'm honest. If I arrange to meet someone, I like to meet someone who is the age they say they are. I do find it deceptive. I have age filters for a reason. If someone can lirle about something as basic as age, I wonder what else they could lie about. I know I don't exactly look my age, but I own it, regardless.

I think some men in particular have adjusted their age to comply with filters they've found and even discussed it in the forum. It probably doesn't achieve what they want it to do though. Perhaps we should have a profile flag where age has just been adjusted

I don't know if the forum is a super honest bunch of people, or if it's those who tell a few porky pies on their profile are currently in hiding. But according to the thread everybody seems very against lying about their age, whereas our experience of the swing scene is that most of our meets lower their age by a few years. 10 years is a bit much, and it's a bit misleading to have significantly out of date photos. But a youthful 45 year old bringing his age down to 40 is not something we spend too much time worrying about - I mean it's only sex! And I understand why they do it - a younger age is more likely to get our attention. Some people have commented that these people will only get 'caught out'. How do people get caught out, short of showing ID prior to sex? Most people we know just say what their real age when asked. They are all people who play actively on the scene, and I don't get the impression that their slightly less than honest profile has ever come back to bite them. My advise is to take certain details of a profile with a pinch of salt, and but get to know the individual in person. I find most people are reasonably honest when you get to know them.
