Some Tesco stores in Scotland faced an deluge of people rushing to take advantage of an error in Tesco's pricing of an offer of three cases of beer for £20. Where the offer was supposed to be '3 for £20 and save £11', the cases were going through the tills as '3 cases for £11'. Tempers were frayed in the car parks apparently and police had to be called.
You just can't keep a good Jock down when it comes to have a tipple... but I'm sure I'd have taken advantage of an error like that too |

"I hear tell that a Scotsman loves a drink...."
Despite being a Scot, I must be a "first" in that I'm a teetotaller.
I cannot abide any alcohol in terms of taste; to me it all tastes like rancid vinegar!!
Yet in the past I've run pubs and other Licensed premiese, and still hold a Personal Licence!
Everyone else can have my share of drink so please line up in an orderly queue! |

The 'user's comment' on the online version of a Scottish daily newspaper makes a good point.
This is an awful lot of publicity for Tesco for not a lot of money. |

Was going to say that...What a lot of publicity for Tesco.......
I'm sure they could have afforded their little gaff considering the amount of
1) Publicity they got
2) Custom through the door as I'm sure there were other "bargains" to be got as well as the cheap booze.
PS as a Scotsman and a Glaswegian too may I also add that I too am dry...As a former Night club bouncer and personal bodyguard I have seen first hand the effects of this "legal" drug only too well.
PPS I love how people stereotype the Scots as hardened drinkers..........when there are worse in other parts of the UK..... |

They've been doing similar to this for years. Best publicity money can buy. |
