Many times for holidays in Mexico SpaIn etc with my son. He rents his home out too. There are some lovely Caribbean homes up for rent if a group goes. Can hire staff at reasonable price too cook .

I use it to rent my house out when not there. Had no problems. Prompt payment, low commission. Pays the bills! The best thing is that both the hosts and the guests get reviewed by each other afterwards. A bit like Fab...

I use Air bnb, and a similar site called VRBO (which I prefer because you can see a more accurate address).

Got an amazing flat in Paris on Bastille for just £320 for eight nights in the Easter holidays.

Yep, I've done this in a few places. Rented the whole place out and generally the experience has been great!

When I looked, I couldn't see how the cost per night was any different to that of a hotel. I think it's difference is by offering a more unique holiday experience?

Many places are much cheaper. When I stayed in Paris a hotel at the same time would have easily cost me a thousand pounds, and I paid just over three hundred. I could also self-cater a good chunk of my meals which was far cheaper than eating out in Paris.

What would have been the advantage to staying in a hotel?

Paris is certainly expensive.. The places I've looked I couldn't find a deal at all

It also depends on what you're looking for as well.

- I take a large amount of tech when I travel because I work as a journalist and I don't want people in my room if I can help it (taking my laptop and camera gear can mean that I'm sitting on 10ks worth of tech in my room that I can't afford to lose). I often ask specifically for no room service if I'm staying in a hotel and change my towels at reception if I need to.

- I like to self cater because it makes it cheaper. If I'm staying alone somewhere then there's nothing more miserable than sitting on your own in a cafe or restaurant. A pan, a single hob, and a fridge can do wonders for my wallet.

I've used in and out of the City, also in holiday resorts. Tenerife being the last one, a few months ago. Couldn't fault the ease of use, the superb contact and more importantly the privacy...

Also Hoppa is a great site for your transfers, save up to 75% on airport transport.

"Do any Fabbers host?"

I have quite a few properties, here and abroad. This year starting in March/April I'll be renting them via AirBnb.

I'll offer sensible discounts, obviously.
