"I'm northern so I'm not sure I understand the distinction.
As long as you don't put an "R" in it then it's fine"
Down London way we don't have an "R" or "TH" in it.
It's b-ah-ff |

It's all the same to a northerner. "Ah" sounds the same as "R" to us. If it doesn't sound the same a "little a" then it's wrong |

"Baff? "
Yup!
Are you a posh York girl and pronounce it with a 'th'?
Also, the A sounds like an A and not an R.
I'm not just a Yorkshire lass, I'm a common Yorkshire lass ha ha.

Plas-tic(northern) or Plars-tic(southern)
Well don't know what they are now you have to pay for them. We all have "bags for life" now..."
Nope! I have tons of the bags for life but I always forget them! So I always end up having to buy another 10 on my next shop or I'll just buy another 10 plastic bags.
They all get used to bag up rubbish or various other household uses ha ha.

"Bath, not Barth
Last, not Larst
Path, not Parth
I think you get the idea "
The long vowels came about in the early Georgian era. Because the royal family were German their English was basically shit.
They tended to elongate vowels...so baaarth etc.
Suckholes in the court circles started to imitate them....hence it spread into the southeast areas among those too ignorant to know the difference.
Correct pronunciation is a short a as in cat. Not as in barn! |

Thanks for that. I'm going to have fun explaining that to the wife next time she mocks my pronunciation
She says. Barth, I say bath. |

I say "bath" as in "path", obviously
However I don't pronounce "house" as "hice", so there's hope for me yet.
Surely the pertinent question isn't "what is your accent?" but instead "would one still meet someone who didn't talk like wot they orter?"
