Not condoning this in any way but why did the security services announce earlier in the day that they would have additional forces dressed as Santa mingling with the crowds? |

You consider Turkish people to be brown?
People die all the time dude.
We feel more of a connection to famous people because they've been part of our lives.
That is all. |

A little bit swarthy?
No, the point is valid, I fear, although apologies for bringing the mood down.
People do care.
But not enough to change their avatar to the colours of the Turkish flag.
I'll shut up now |

People care. It doesn't help that it was announced on the news at close to midnight on New year's. People are mostly tipsy and not in the state of mind for sad news. You can't condemn people for wanting levity on NYE.
I didn't even know who George Michael was when I heard he died, in case you're wondering. |

I don't change my avatar, or anything to any flag for anything. I care. As much or more about people being murdered than a celebrity drinking or drugging himself to death. |

To a degree, maybe.
If you're going to pretend to care though feel free to make posts in every thread when Boko Haram goes nuts every day, or some of atrosity other than what your just saw in the news too.
You aren't the only person that cares so it's not exactly fair to pretend others don't or don't know. |

What has brown got to do with anything. Rather a racist comment. People all over the world will abhor this terrible tragedy regardless of colour or Creed. George Michael is dead yes and mayb by his own hand but everyone deserves to RIP. A tragic start to a new yeat |

Aye, you're right.
I'm just drawing a comparison between things that people find interesting/noteworthy.
Did a 'real news' thread one time but was shouted down for being 'too negative'.
Yeah, bad shit happens to people for no reason all the fricking time.

Crying Girl: [reading from paper] I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school... I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy...
Damian: [shouting from back] She doesn't even go here!
Ms. Norbury: Do you even go to this school?
Crying Girl: No... I just have a lot of feelings...
Ms. Norbury: Ok go home...
Seriously though. A lot of people lost their lives today. Not just in Turkey but all over the world in various peaceful and horrific ways.
We didn't. We are still here and we can do the things that they wish they had one more chance to do.
I'm pretty sure that would include smiling, loving one another and letting go of the hate.
Let's all agree that this sucks..hard..but be nice to each other.
I am officially an emotional d*unk.

No one wants to talk about it, not because brown people died but because they murdered. You aren't allowed to be honest about lslam.
And Turks are no more brown than Greeks. |

I have only just seen this, it's terrible news. Very sad indeed, reminiscent of the Paris shootings. It's dreadful. It does not compare to George Michael dying, who at the end of the day fked up his fans Christmas by doing drugs Christmas Eve. I am sorry he's dead but what's happened in Turkey is a complete tragedy and far more important.
People do care about ordinary folks.
RIP to the victims who died XXX

The brown skin bit was a direct response to Joe's quote. These terrorist attacks have been increasing and it is rooted in lslam. lf you want to know my total thoughts then l can pm you. |

I'm only just hearing about this now, nothing was reported on Jools Holland so its not so much of not giving a shit, its the timing of it all.
Jumping to conclusions that no one gives a shit about "dead brown people" is just giving the pc gone mad brigade more weight to their arguments.
Stop and think for a minute before you paint everyone as some kind of mindless drone who only believed what they read in the paper.
I'm a "brown person" and I can decide what's offensive to me all by myself thanks. |

1) everyone is probably in bed
2) it's human nature, the way our brains are wired up. Unless you are highly empathetic (which often isn't much fun as you feel orher's pain too much) you can only feel strong emotions for something/someone you feel a connection to, otherwise yes I would lose your mind and cry all day every day over other's troubles
3) related to the above, individuals with a story generate more human emotion than speaking of numbers of people. Think how no one had much to say about immigrants til the picture of the dead toddler on the beach, then suddenly everyone did
It's the way of the world, everyone has a heart but we can't all collapse with grief over everything that goes wrong otherwise we would get nothing done so the brain filters out people where you have a connection for that to happen

I think Joe's point is valid yet
I am also sure that people do care but to a certain extent and that because they are spoon fed by TV.
The care of people or at least the pretend care of people depends on how the world relates to the events and how it is worldwide covered.
We will see how the story will be cover up by the mainstream media in the few weeks to come.
I remember the cover up, in France, of the shooting in the nightclub in America. The event, and rightly so, has been brought up everyday, at midday and 8 o'clock news for at least two weeks, yet when a terrorist attack happened in the international airport of Istambul, the cover up wasn't the same at all. They did talk about it, but after few days that was it.
The covering of any events will help to manipulate public opinion.
R.I.P to the victims. |

It's human nature to care more when you feel that things affect places you've been or that you can picture yourself being.
I'm not going to feel guilty for feeling worse about the Berlin attack the other week (given that I'd been in the same market exactly a year before, could place myself and my friends at the scene of such an attack and feel personally threatened) than I can feel about an attack on somewhere I've never been and can't ever imagine myself, friends or family going. I'd care more if (god forbid) there was ever an incident in my home city than I would about one somewhere else.
I dare say in Turkey they gave more of a shit about these attacks in Istanbul than they did about Paris, or London, or Berlin. I assume the same people will be queuing up to show their moral superiority by castigating them for not caring as much about the lives of white people. |

Altinkum-Turkey |
Dear Men and ladies ;
Bombs can explode everywhere in the world, there can be terrorist activities. But that can not stop us. We will always continue to come to Turkey no matter what the circumstances. Turkey is always a safe country. We want to announce this to the whole world. We are never afraid of ISID or any terrorist organization .... Terror will not prevent us from coming here ..
I wish my condolences to the people who died.
I would like to recommend that those who want to go on holiday in all of Europe come to Turkey.
So we have to show that we are not afraid of terror.
Thank you for sharing your feelings for this reason.
Best regards
denizxxxxx
