Like proper alone no kids either?

I am and it's making me feel sad, I'm trying not to dwell but I've had such a shit year.

My mother is working, my sister is going to a house party, she said I could go with her but I'm 33 and don't fancy a party with a load of 21 year olds.

My best friend is child free and this is her only night without her daughter before her boyfriend goes back to camp on the 3rd, can't really crash their alone time.

My daughter is staying over her fathers and other friends are going out, I'm not feeling going out at all so on my own it is.

Me. I'm not sad about it, could've gone out with either randoms or guys who piss me off after chatting with them for some time.

It's only a new year, not the rest of your life.

I am alone and fine with it. I hate loud music, crowds, and being forced to feel happy for a countdown. After having Christmas regulated to an astonishing degree I am happy to spend New Years Eve doing what I want.

I know but I always think of new year as a big deal. Just reinforces the fact I'm on my own.

Need to shake it off, finish cleaning whilst I'm child free, get most of my decorations down, do some nibbles and might even have a cider.

Totally on my own - no family left any more.

But a quiet night, spent with memories of much-loved times in the past.

Maybe next year will bring someone interesting - who knows?

Sending warm wishes to anyone else alone tonight...

I'll be home alone tonight, hoping my arsehole neighbour doesn't have yet another party and actually gives me some peace and quiet. Last NYE I went to a swingers club. Glad to be at home really just for some rest. Been an exhausting year!

OP, there might be other people in their 30s (or at least late 20s) at the house party.

You just have to decide to make it a good night, whether it's alone or at a party. It's one night.

Make a plan for Chinese New Year instead.

Hate NYE makes you think about what we don't have but at 42 I'm sitting in , having Chinese and a movie with my son who's too hungover to go out, but instead of dwelling on the what nots etc I'm going to do a bucket list for 2017; thankful for what I do have, that tomorrow I will wake up and breath and able to do things for myself, only taken 20 yrs to finally accept my life the way it is and I am going to start enjoying it, feck I might not be 25, rich, Gorgeous etc but I'm a good person with a good heart with a few good friends a small family and I'm embracing it with all my heart, saying that I'll probably be in bed at 12 lol

I'm on my own too... well I have the kitty for company and I'm actually happy with that. I have places to go but I'm not really bothered. A friend for work is having a house party and another mate is off to her local but I've just spent the day cleaning my flat and have just showered and put on clean PJs so it's unlikely that I'll be going over the door.

I have steak for dinner and a box set if the TV is shit. There's also a fridge full of booze but I'm not really in the mood for it. I've got lovely new champagne flutes from the sales too! Typical!

I don't really like New Year... it's full of promise that the next one will surpass expectations but I need to pull my finger out and be in control of my own destiny so I'm making a list of things I want to accomplish in the next twelve months and putting them in my forever jar.

I hope those of you who are alone turn it into a positive and have some quality 'me' time.

A world of my own

I detest new year. It was my dads favourite time of the year.I miss him terribly. I'm once again feeling very sorry for myself about my lack of family and even friends. I'm not happy that the person I want to be with most over silly season I never will be. Once the kids go to bed its just me. I feel very much alone to face the world most of the time. However it seems even more so at this time of year. I realise in many ways I'm very lucky. I've had the ,"focus on your boys and yourself" patronising chat. And I'm in no way not doing that. It would just be nice for once to be me, and have someone for me. To not be on the sidelines looking at everyone else enjoying life while I feel I snatch mere moments.

I'm sorry for the rambling poor me post. I'm actually quite a positive person most of the time!

OP I think your letter to the universe is a great idea. I may do something similar.

I hope everyone finds reason to smile as they begin the new year. Xx

Hang in there mate things will get better,if your are feeling this strain a little to much tho maybe go and speak to your g.p.

I hate New Year. Last Year a wise woman who wasn't my mum, gave me a stern talking to and reminded me that despite all the hype it's just another day. Nothing changes, it's just one day passing into another that we strangely celebrate.

So just say "fuck it". Tomorrow is another day and hopefully the start of a better and brighter fresh year.

I'm married and have children yet I'm still sat here on my sofa alone. So I'm having some flirty chat and tying to make the best out of a bad job

"Like proper alone no kids either?

I am and it's making me feel sad, I'm trying not to dwell but I've had such a shit year.

My mother is working, my sister is going to a house party, she said I could go with her but I'm 33 and don't fancy a party with a load of 21 year olds.

My best friend is child free and this is her only night without her daughter before her boyfriend goes back to camp on the 3rd, can't really crash their alone time.

My daughter is staying over her fathers and other friends are going out, I'm not feeling going out at all so on my own it is. "

Alone as well - kids at their mothers and didn't fancy going to pub alone amd waking up with a hangover tomorrow.

Sitting watching "wha's like us" and getting my Scottish fix

Would have liked some company but in the end - it is just another night.

New Years Eve is usually a built up, over hyped nothing of an evening. Everyone builds it up as this magical evening that something special is going to happen. Chances are it won't. It's just another evening out when you have to pay double the price for everything!

I can see why this can get you down, but you have to think positive and if you get out there (in whatever sense you want) something good will happen.

I've had a shit 2nd half to the year, but ended up on a spontaneous holiday this month and had a fantastic time.

Drove to the seafront and walked down the pier, had a fag, ripped my letter up and scattered it into the sea. Stood in a load of fish gut entrails and a passerby stopped me to make sure I wasn't going to jump off the pier.

I am in bed on my own because I've got a virus. Didn't want to infect anybody. I did get an early night but the fireworks and partying has woken me up. Anyway hopefully 2017 will only get better

"Yes, I'm all alone too, it has been the same all Christmas. No family local, kids in their 30's and no partner. I'm not too bothered, but it would be nice to have a snuggle with someone to see in 2017 though (sigh)"

I'm married, but haven't even had a snuggle either. Hey ho, worse things happen

By 20 past 11 I'd decided that it would surely be a good idea to go for a bike ride. I got home at half past midnight thinking that may have been the nicest way I've seen a new year in.

Now I'm decimating Christmas biscuits and watching University Challenge.

West Wales and Cardiff

Was with people earlier, but now sat alone in my car looking at a beautiful seaside view.

Feel quite lonely and empty, but I've felt way worse on NYE.

It'll pass and I don't really mind January.

Alone but not lonely.

Like xmas,it's just another day.

Though I loathe the commercialisation of xmas,I enjoy spending that time with close family.

Can't be arsed with the hype that goes with hogmanay though.

Went to the street party here in Edinburgh a few times in my 20s n was d*unk enough to have fun n go along with the big countdown.

Now though, that's my idea of a fucking nightmare!

Glad it's all over for another year!

You should get your hair done like that. Strong look .

I was a teenager in the 1980s and saw that hair for real (and had a mullet, myself).

It's still 1985 in some places. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist a cheap gag.

It's the least likely one tbh, because he works in a world where shmoozing rich clients is important and obviously lots love that game.

He usually emails his plans in the NY. If he has them I'll send a message.
