I sure miss those days when there used to be PIFs on the TV when I was a kid.
The ones that stand out the most are possibly the scariest and sometimes fucked up of the bunch which do seem to attract more attention.
Even though they're no longer seen on tv, they're still available to watch on YouTube and on a DVD called Charlie Says which has a vast collection of PIFs including the infamous Lonely Water PIF.
What is your favourite PIF? |

42 minutes of them.

I remember watching this one. There are some good videos with loads of scary PIFs on them.
Remember that PIF that dealt with chip pan fires which showed the victim's face at the end? What a way to get the message across eh |

The one I remember from my childhood was the one where a child got trapped in an abandoned fridge.

"The electric pylon ones were terrifying. Also the learn to swim ads "
Playing in gravel pits... or farm machinery... going to bed and leaving a lit fag on the sofa. It's a wonder any of us actually made is through the 60s and 70s.

I remember that one! Used to be terrified of finding a fridge and getting stuck in it. Shockingly I never ever found one! |

"It is a shame that there aren't many PIFs on TV anymore. Who thinks they should bring them back?"
For the younger internet generation they could do PIF GIFs. |

There and to the left a bit |
This one about playing near rivers with Donald Pleasance's voice was hauntingly scary, was shown on the telly the other night on one of those "Back to the 70s" review programmes

I appreciate children need to be protected from some things but I remember years ago my son had friends around and I took them tree climbing and we made a huge rope swing that went out over a river and back.
One of the parents refused to let there child visit again as apparently I'd risked his life.I suggested wrapping the him in cotton wool and bubble wrap which didn't go down well
The other parents said there child wouldn't shut up about it and they were pleased they'd discovered life away from kindles, laptops, iPhones etc

Had to bump this thread as I love watching the classic PIFs of yesteryear.
There still are some PIFs that I find disturbing especially that one from the NSPCC called Can't Look which shows stuff covering their eyes while a child is either physically abused, verbally abused, sexually abused or abandoned.
What is upsetting is hearing the mother screaming and shouting at her child before smacking them |
