Given the stats so far this year....and that today I've just woken up....I'm waiting for the inevitable news of another dead celeb but may not have the time to keep checking back here. Thought I'd get in first so here goes:
OMG.....just heard that (insert name here) has just passed away. Going to really miss *(him/her) they were such a great *(musician/actor/sportsperson).
RIP.....you will be missed.

You have to account for the fact that there are more celebs around nowadays.
The entertainment industry has grown massively during the 20th century and even more since the turn of the millennium.
Also whilst anyome dying is a loss, does x or y dying mean any more or any less than the 1000's who die every day.
Celebrity is generally a one way relationship, it gives the impression that you know someone but it's not actually real. |

I overheard in a coffee shop, 'OMG! 2016 has been the worst year ever'
I did offer the to the person that perhaps 1914-18, 1939-45 might have been a tad worse than this year has been.
