Retired from cycling.

Had a great career, but do you think the doubts over drugs will tarnish his legacy?

I don't think so, they've used the system within the limits of the rules. The same as just about every other pro team does.

I do, the doubts over drugs are being mentioned at the same time as the news of his retirement is being announced.

I think Wiggins will not get implicated but 100% believe SKY and Froome will go the same way as USPS, Festina, Rabobank, Once, T-mobile and countless others who have imploded because of organised doping

I don;t care about his cycling or the drugs/or not...

I just think his name is deliciously incongruous...

SIR Bradley Wiggins.

Love it.

I think they may have played a part in the timing of his retirement. By all accounts Brailsford is a horrible cunt and this may come back to bite Wiggins in the backside.

I think you are possibly overselling Brailsford with that reference. Still far less odious than his henchman Shane Sutton

It's context specific of course, but from reading into some of his shenanigans I stand by it.

A truly fantastic sportsman who has on more than one occasion made millions of Brits very happy and hugely proud of his achievements.

Absolutely! And, of course, he may not have not have known/been involved in the slightly ropier side of the sport. I'd like to think not

The memory of Shane Sutton was riding from crank to Liverpool in the kellogs tour of Britain, with a broken collar bone. Shame that is tarnished some what.

Personally I think people will read into it whatever they want to until it is/isn't substantiated like Armstrong.

.

Unfortunately your right.... However drug use in cycling isn't exactly rare, they've been doing it since the 60s.

I'd hazard a guess it's about 95% of them at it so in reality the best guy won but won on drugs

They've been doing it since the sport starred over 100 years ago. In the 60s it was still pretty basic and even in to the 70s and 80s, a positive would potentially just lead to a time penalty not even a disqualification and bans were only for multiple events.

Then EPO, HGH and the like came along and as Barnet Rise proved donkeys became racehourses

They were saying on the radio this morning that his achievements were astounding because he could sprint as well as doing the stamina stuff like the TDF.

Perhaps the banned, but allowed cos he had asthma substance, gave him that extra percentile of difference to do both.

No doubt a talented and dedicated elite sportsman, but tainted in my eyes.I'm sure there was other asthma medication that he could've taken...

... Yes but back then the best way to cheat was getting towed of a car by fishing wire

Who was the English guy who had a heart attack on the mountains while on PCP?.

The nature of competition is always going to drive an amount on to drugs, when the drugs like today are good enough it then forces more on to compete with the ones on it.... Throw in the money and it's just turning into a farce
