Photo Editing

Recently I've been using a few different apps for editing and making my photos more interesting. I did a few Christmassy ones and yesterday created a few that had a graffiti or aged newspaper clipping look to them. I was quite pleased with the results and posted them. They were accepted at first but suddenly today three have been rejected. This went on a number of times with the Christmassy photos too, but after half a day wasted trying to show they were original but edited photos they were accepted. If the criteria applied to these photos were applied across all my photos they should nearly all be rejected because they have been edited, adding frames, filters, vignettes, making them black & white. I find it very hard to understand. One of the few pleasures I get on this site these days is posting photos and it just doesn't seem worth the effort to do something original or a bit different

I have never had a problem getting my pics accepted, and have used coloured filters on a number of recent pics. However, I don't ever try and mask the fact that its me in the pic as I am guessing a lot of filters do...perhaps that is the problem?

I don't mask it is me. If they look at other pictures they can see the pictures with less editing that were taken at the same time.

Thank you. That's really nice to hear. I was just doing something different and a bit surprised that it keeps happening. Someone must be reporting them after they are originally accepted....once they are gabbed enough to ruffle a few feathers maybe?

I can get where you're coming from Doc, my Xmas one (on profile) was ok, but the previous one taken literally a few minutes beforehand was rejected. Maybe the pic mods didn't like who was on the tv screen behind me

Yes but the reason is invalid...or if it is valid then most of my photos should also be rejected using the same criteria

The latest photo was done using the same app just a different effect, but that hasn't been rejected but the other three have. It seems some of the effects are perhaps too clever. Even though it's obvious to me it may not be obvious to others, how the photo was created.

Depends on what criteria they got rejected I guess. What was it 'Too arthouse for this site?'

Submitting pix in the morning is far more successful than at night, I find. Dunno why.

I reposted the deleted pic this afternoon and it got rejected as did two more of my photos. Clearly they had a closer look at the other recent photos and decided they were infringing the rules too.

However I think if the photos were not of me I'd have chosen a much better subject to impersonate

I think I now know the issue. Others have used the same app with the same effect to create pictures and posted them on the web. Seems I'm not original enough

Next time I'll google reverse my photos before posting them it might save any wasted effort

I had some of my photos rejected because someone had reported them for not being me. The someone, was a man who lives about 300 miles away from me, who had never even messaged me before, let alone chatted to or met !!

I complained to admin who apologised and reinstated my pictures.

The green eyed monster is truly a strange thing.

I did complain and got the standard reply to read the rules. Anyway it looks like I may know why now.

Lesson learned. Don't use fancy effects in apps that others may have used too and posted their efforts on the web already

Using APPs to change photos altogether sometimes will be rejected if it is far removed from a photograph.

As always, leave the photo in your gallery and ask Admin to review for you. If you have already done that and got a mail saying check out the pic rules, it means they have looked at it and decided it can't be approved.
