Why do people persist is saying they are bored in their profile details or status feed?
Do they really think that folk will see it, take pity on them and arrange a meet?

The word pathetic aptly fits with a person announcing their boredom as it means arousing pity, especially through vulnerability or sadness.....
So being called pathetic could actually be a job well done ,,,,,, a cunning ploy..... a tactic of manifest genius whereby manipulating the emotion of others by exercising subliminal mind control .

Fair point, but why not just say anyone up for chat? I'd be worried about getting depressed after a chat with anyone that sells themselves as bored. |

I get bored sometimes, I think it's a useful experience because it gives you thinking time and allows you to sort priorities. My last permanent job changed so much in the last years I was there and became deadly, deadly boring. I tried everything to alleviate the ennui but eventually had to leave |
