Not the single guy expecting to have to seek early medical retirement, by the end of his first week of fab use.
What great plans have you had that were perhaps a little too ambitious with - and what did you settle for, or end up with, in the end? (not specifically sex or rab related). |

My plan was to be a big shot property developer, with a huge portfolio of properties, throughout the UK and Ireland, and some holiday homes in other counties too.
The reality is having to be very careful with money, and living on a knife edge when a Tennant moves out or stops paying rent, and the stress of waiting for a call to say that something catastrophic has happened to a property is crushing.
Its not all homes under the hammer, I'd be better off financially if I had a minimum wage job if you take into account tax credits, and housing benefit that I would be able to claim if I rented my home, but its a nice feeling that I can give my kids my full attention, and I don't have to claim any benefits, so I suppose I've done OK in the end |

We are hoping to relocate to a country cottage. Neither of us mind still working, so I am working on moving my career on so it will be easy to find a better job when we move out of London. It wont happen immediately because of the children, but it's a longer term goal for us. We still have to work out exactly where though, as we love the conveniences London have to offer .... |

I'd gladly sacrifice the achievement of matching and exceeding my aspirations if I could return to that point in life when I was the luckiest man who ever lived .... |

To join the RAF. Shot down in flames by the maths part of the test. Was told i could resit it, but i am hopeless at maths so no point.
I went to College and did a secretarial course and went on to be a legal secretary for just over 20 years until i had my eldest child. I now work in the office for a Domicilliary Care Company.
Not the heady Top Gun days i was anticipating, but i've done ok. |

With ideas of becoming a barrister, I had offers to read Law but my heart overruled my head at the last moment and I opted for Egyptology and Ancient History (and later Linguistics) instead.
Needless to say with hindsight I wish I'd been more objective .... |

I was exactly the same. Had my place to read Law confirmed but had a brave moment, turned it down, took a year out, worked full time to earn some money and did a degree in a creative subject with a minor in another language. It was utterly terrifying and I may not be earning tonnes of money now but I love what I do so it all worked out for the best. I would have been miserable as a barrister. |

You obviously made the right decision then - it's great you love what you do!
My job is rather 'meh' though and I'd have loved to have been a barrister - I do like a good argument and can be very persuasive ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I wanted to be a footballer, was on the books of a club from 8-15 at which point I was released.
The simple truth was that I wasn't good enough for that level and whilst I could have gone elsewhere I decided that my heart wasn't in it after all. Got a degree, got a good career and likely have a better standard of life now than if I had been a lower league player |
