What makes people so popular on here or shall I say more popular than others? I seem to think single ladies profiles do very well ( more than others) as it's normally their pictures that appear top in the hot pics section. So what do you think the "winning formula" is ?

But with that understanding I'd say that being a single woman on here in a region that is heavily or somewhat heavily populated is a good start. Add to that sexy pictures, especially with their face showing, and you've got a good recipe, if not the winning formula.

I have no idea what the common denominator is regarding this. When I first joined I just thought some of these people actually knew each other via clubs and socials, hence the familiarity. Now 4 years down the line I just don't know. As Wyrdwoman says, People come and go but there's always a few that stick around. Perhaps a dry wit or an acerbic tongue is needed? I'm just not sure.

We're all here for our own reasons and to get out of the site what we can in whatever way we choose, and so long as we each individually enjoy doing so (and yeah I know there are those that don't appear to, which I always scratch my head amd wonder why they're here in the first place) then that is what's important.

I think the popular people spend hours and hours and hours chatting. They appear on virtually every thread, post continually, flirt with every man and his dog, are nearly always nicey pie and literally make everybody know their name. I honestly think you can make yourself popular if you want to and have the time to? I also think that popular Forumites are pretty confident people and are very good at expressing themselves well.

A clique isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's a pretty normal occurrence amongst a group of people.

I agree re some of the ping pong comments should go to a pm. I've been guilty of it too but I do try not to carry it on throughout the thread as it pisses me off when I read others...

I see your point. Perhaps it's just my perception. You have people who have met in real life, or are planning on meeting, or like each other etc... So I see the commenting back and forth as quite a natural thing. People like to comment on the ones they like. I can understand that others may sometimes feel a little sidelined as a result and see a clique mentality. I just see it as friends interacting.

I also agree that the forums are a lot more welcoming than yesteryear. There was a very strong hierarchy attitude back then .

I think the cliques are only apparent because of the relatively small number of people who use the forums. If more people realised the value of the forums and used them regularly then the cliques themselves would be downed out by the sheer volume of posts.

I'm not forum popular, but my inbox does ok and i don't meet from the forums anyway due to distance.

I think if you are flamboyant, charming, flirtatious and outwardly appear to be fun then yes of course you'll be popular, because those types naturally have people gravitate towards them anyway because they make others feel good.

That doesn't mean other forum users aren't as appealing, just you have to put in effort to get to know them and their hidden depths, that takes time and effort and a lot of people can't be arsed with that. Or they are a bit intimidating.
