It's not actually about the old Campari ad. (For the youngsters one of the ads had an upper crust gent ask a model, Lorraine Chase, "Were you truly wafted here from paradise?" to which she replies, "No, Luton Airport.")
Has anyone been recently? I know it was being done up but the website is rather unhelpful. How under construction is it and are there any shops open?
Thank you. Now, back to corny ads from the 70s.

"Shops are open - there are some changes to road layout, parking, drop offs, bus stops and how you get in. But once in no problems - you wouldn't know they were developing the airport "

My sister and I have been saying it like that, as we're going there. Her husband and children look at us as though we've lost our minds.

Car park is shit.
Road into airport is shit.
Shops are open but airport can be very overcrowded at certain times.
Allow at test thirty minutes to clear security, took us an hour in the summer.
It a pleasant experience at all.
I'm sure you'll be fine though

I am only just old enough to remember the ad...but I do say "Luton airport" in *that* accent.
I've also been known to refer to the town as "Luton of the airport".
70s adverts....the Evel Knievel stunt bike toys that couldn't really do most of the stuff shown in the ad....taught me a lot about advertising... |
