Just a very tired and in pain 38 weeks pregnant rant...
After being told i would be induced for labour yesterday, i had believed the midwife when she said my bits and pieces wer doing the right things, in the right positions and capable of doing what theyr told to do.
I had the pessary put in, started getting pains, waddeled about hoping pains wer doing somthing. Due to only been on the Day unit an not actual labour ward, pain relief is pretty fucking shit-its a choice of Paracetamol or Codeine. Having already had 2x paracetamols, i opted for Codine. Didnt do much for the pain an i felt like id been run over on my head by a great big truck! This combined with the regular pretty painful contractions means i think i had around an hour and half sleep last night.
I carried on with the pain hoping it was working, come 12pm when i needed examining...it had done Jack shit! Absolutly nothing!
The doctor had to come and decided she wanted to try put another Pessary in for 24 hours to see if it would do anything. She found that the first pessary hadnt been placed correctly!!!!
She was beyond rough and i was in floods of tears as she examined me an put the pessary in! Since the second has been in...my pains had vanished completly! They feel like theyv been pulled out of me, put through a blender then squashee bavk inside me! My contractions totally stopped. My lady bits are fucking sore but i can manage that. I was so excited at the thought of being able to get a good nights sleep! But noooo! 10pm ticks over an contractions start again. Managing to nod of between contractions at the mo but they blooming hurt!
Hopefully the pessary will be working an theyl get me onto labour ward, get me into propper labour an i can be numbed from the back down an sleep my way through the labour till my baby boy is finally here.
I need sleeeeep! Far too tired and emotional an hormoanal for this!

this can happen when they induce you. the pessaries can start the pain but because your contractions are not starting naturally so your body might stop them, it's not really ready to have the baby.
they should have told you this.
sometimes they offer a sweep to get things started? or they used to. has been 12 years since i've had any kids now.
it will be over soon but labour is agony so i can't blame you for feeling like that. i've only got period pains here, and niggly ones at that, but they're pissing me right off lol. |

Poor you :0( I had 48 hrs in labour as my contractions kept dropping and was exhausted. Have they got a tens machine you can borrow? Really worked for me. And try and eat something even if you don't want it to keep your energy up. Hope little one makes an appearance soon! X |

your body thinks the baby shouldn't come out yet that's all. it's a good body that is protecting your baby. this doesn't help you right now but i don't think that's anything to feel rubbish for.
mine were all big, smallest was 8lb 4, others were around 2lb bigger. had to have c-sections for the last 4 but only had a 10 hr labour with the first. they put me on a drip for it so that speeded it up. i remember telling the midwife she had the drip on too high coz it was causing me to be in too much pain lol.
yeah it will be worth it, and once he pops out you won't even remember the pain probably. that is true. i don't remember what it was like. |

yeah it does. in those days they didn't offer anything more than normal painkillers, think i had pethadine and gas, but i think they realised how bad they made the pains because now they pffer a spinal or epidural when you have a drip.
if you have an epidural you can have a drip to speed things up i think?

yeah epidurals are great, i've had 3. spinals seem to be better. there is no pain with either, but your legs go numb and sometimes half your body does too and that feels weird.
we should place bets, i'm gonna guess he will be 8lb 10. |
