I'm not sure stuff on here, with people you've never met, counts as ghosting. I think of ghosting as, for example, someone who you're dating disappearing out of your life and not responding to any attempts to get in contact.
On here, yeah it's probably annoying if a conversation just tails off, but it's not the same thing. |

I'm not talking about the conversation tailing off. I'm talking about my OP. A message is read then unread, quite obviously and deliberately, then no response. Did I not already describe this? |

I guess they found the message content off putting or life got in the way, they just lost interest or just genuinely lost track. It happens alot, in fact I generally expect it so if a conversation leads to a meet, I'm pleasantly surprised! |

How is that ghosting though? They've just ignored your message. I assume you haven't met them. You're not dating them. You're not in a relationship with them. It's not ghosting. |

I admit to being a nightmare for it. I'll be replying to messages, my son walks in the room so I lock my phone.
Go back to it later and there's a load more messages in my inbox. It's only when I go through and start deleting loads that I spot the ones I was gonna reply to. Sometimes weeks have passed.
May opinion on ghosting tho, is going around in ninja mode. All hidden. |

I'm sarcastic, not confused, and I said nothing of the reasons - just that the act you described isn't ghosting. I'm not sure why that's difficult to grasp. |

I'm afraid but you have NO idea what ghosting means! What you've described is just pure cyberspace happenings. When you've known someone 2 years and then they vanish with no explanation, now thst can be called ghosting. |

Though evolution hasnt resulted in this being called ghosting.
Id expect people to initiate and continue conversations with many more potential partners than theyll ever meet. And get ignored or blocked by a good number of them. There is no obligation to explain lack of interest or formally close dialogue - silence or a block is perfectly acceptable and standard here. |
