"Um... isn't it the thought that counts? I'm sensing bigger issues than a crap Christmas card? " This I have a big family so I've had to get a pack of 40 from Poundland this year, and I've had to be pretty thrifty with presents though my nearest and dearest have three or four each, and my god daughter has a little stocking as well as presents. But I'd be gutted if someone put something aside I'd put thought and feeling in because it was too 'cheap.'

"If a beautiful heartfelt message was written on plain paper then it's the thought behind it. Cheap or not(and most are grossly overpriced) a card is a sentiment and should be taken as such. No one knows for sure what people can afford Reality is often different from the image/words shown to the outside Throwing away immediately IMHO was disgusting. If you dislike their "ways" to that extent then consider agreeing not to bother giving/recieving either way in future. Your post just makes it sound like you expect a certain level of money spent on you or in general by them. " Well theres not much i can say to that is there. Without sounding a bit rude. We bought a box of 30 from Aldi for £1.25 but the thoughts and words that get written in them are far more valuable than your 50p each job. This is exactly why I hate Christmas. So many people become totally materialistic. I want, I want, I want. Get over yourself woman.

I have bought nice ones for my sister in law before because i know she likes them and she comes over to cut my hair. Nobody actualy really knows me or them on here anyway. Wtf has cutting your hair got to do with a Xmas card? I brought my boyfriend £2000 guitar and he got me a £5 teddy. I absolutely love my teddy. Just because you spent so much on them doesn't mean they should spend same on you. " Dump him, bloody cheapskate

"Cheap christmas cards why bother? My brother sent us a cheapo crappy xmas card which went sraight in the bin, only his wife is always telling us how well off they are. Me and my son went there once over christmas and they gave us some warmed up Mr. Kipling tarts with cream and while we were eating them they told us that they had bought a load and put them in their freezer as they were past their sell by date and you couldnt tell the difference when you put cream on them, put me right off. " I just think you are a very ungrateful person. Be it a cheap card or an expensive card does it really matter? It was a gesture to show that they have thought about you. You would moan had they not sent you a card

If buy you fuck all if you were my relative because based on this thread alone you wouldn't deserve anything. You don't get to decide what people spend on you you should just be grateful that they do. Perhaps no one taught you this valuable life lesson in your formative years. And just because he said he's leaving you money doesn't mean it's a lot.

"We exchange no gifts, no cards, no fancy meals. We have each other and that's worth more than any tat that can be bought from a shop. We've grown to enjoy the meaningful things. A kind word, a hug, a smile, a kiss, a 4sum with a hot couple " Unfortunately for some, something can't be of value unless it comes with a decent price tag attached.
