"Depends what do you need advice on. Motivation? Nutrition? Technique? Exercises? "
I want to put a bit of size on. I've never really lifted though. Just bodyweight.
I don't bother with diet. I eat whatever |

Assuming you have fast metabolism eating whatever won't help you put on size. There are various calculator which can tell you how much you have to eat depending on your metabolism and weekly activity. Weights are of course much better for building bigger muscles than bodyweight but without the proteins and enough calories just lifting won't help.
Bodybuilding has a calculator on their 51TE. |

"There's a nice man on here username Rocketgym, he's a pt
And that "
I do have a fast metabolism but it doesn't tend to burn muscle on me so l dog think l need to watch the diet too much. I hate getting back into it. I went on a gym trial 5 months ago and was sick. And then again while driving home |

I'm already lean so l am just prioritising."
Cool, but you won't put lean body mass on if you don't focus, and I mean really focus, on your diet. |

It's about what you eat, not how much. Also, the stomach stretches to accomodate more food over time |

OP it depends on your goals.?
I get like 5 - 10 messages a day of people on here asking for advice but its really hard to unless i know their diet, lifestyle ect.
Also hard to tell/advice unless i see someone in reality or possibly on Skype which i have done with clients before at the start so maybe ok op. |

Just to put a bit more size on. Maybe half a stone of lean size. l'm naturally this current build without training (slim but athletic) so l don't think half a stone is too crazy. l was considering giving squats or dead lift a try. |

Half a stone will be fairly easy, Squats really will help you gain
keeping things simple here, if you are eating loads already and keep your weight down well, consider reps in the slightly lower range with a little bit more rest, then handle a bit more weight too.
Some extra protein, an extra 80 grams or so a day also perhaps 3 to 5 grams of creatine monohydrate will bulk you up by a good few pounds.
Could go into more detail but by the sounds of it you just want a bit more bulk, so a good general weights routine, extra protein, keep your food intake as it is, add creatine perhaps and you will be there. Definatley yes to some squats and deadlifting too. |

"Where's Shag. He's good with tips on this matter." That is right and yes, it is all about the diet and it all starts in the kitchen. I have few tips too.
I would suggest starting of with the basics with 1gram per pound of body weight for the protein intake, so a 200lb man would have 200g of protein a day, eat about every 3hrs.
Eat abit above maintenance at 2700kcal in the beginning and do that for a week to see if you gain or lose weight, if you dont gain weight, increase the carbs, you could also consider carb cycling, where on training days you eat high carbs, then the next very low then a medium day.
Go to the gym about 3 to 5 times a week and remember to never have a session the same as you have to confuse the muscle memory.
One important factor to consider is the protein synthesis for recovery time, if someone is natural, that is to wait 48hrs for each workout session.
If you want to build muscles, the rep range is usually between 8 and 10.
Focus on the compound movements, squats, deadlifts and bench presses.
Keep the cardio to 30min aday. |
