Christmas shopping , spare a thought

Bore da , good morning Fabbers , friends and forumites .

I hope we are all feeling jolly sparkly this morning.

I am sure many of you have thoughts of heading out today to Christmas shop. Buying all those gifts and bits and bobs that make your Christmas special.

Please spare a thought for the army of Santa's helpers who work in retail. That fine body of ladies and chaps . They are there to help you as much as they can.

So try to be a little less grumpy with your fellow shoppers and staff and let's all have a spiffing Christmas

Taff and Pooch

Very well said

I need to start my Christmas shopping, but can't see an opportunity for going. Think I'll be resorting to online, but I'll miss the Christmassy atmosphere.

I'm not grumpy with them but sometimes they're grumpy with me.

Our daughter worked in retail for a while and people could be spectacularly rude at all times of the year but especially Christmas. Some were very nice too.

What really annoys me is that shops insist on opening on Boxing Day. The staff are exhausted after the Christmas rush, stay behind in Christmas eve to get the darn sale ready, have one day off then back to it. Nobody needs to buy a handbag or a manbag on boxing day.

I am the same. We've been waiting to get back into our house, that has been remodelled, since mid October and there has been delay after delay ... supposed to move back in this weekend and nothing is functional. Its going to take all our time to sort that out

As one of Santa's little retail elves I'm always appreciative of posts like this. It's such a shame though that people need to be reminded to be nice

I'd be happy if I could shop alone.

It's the other shoppers that make me grumpy

Aww sorry for your loss hun. I know it's no consolation but the staff will be feeling just as upset as you are.

An ex of mine used to work in a care home and was heartbroken every time one of his residents passed away. It was like losing a grandparent to him.

Sending hugs to you violet .

So on this note .... also spare a thought for all tbe people who work in care ... not just hospitals , also those who will be working over the Christmas and new year period who try to make Christmas special ...

Care homes .. residential homes ... people who live at home ... and need support ....

These people need to be cared for 365 days of the year ...

....

I have a friend who works part time in retail. She's constantly whinging about customers and having to do things that are her job.

She forgets that those customers, who are there to make purchases, are paying her wages and it's not their fault she has to answer the same question 100 times a day, or don't want the product she has been told to push that day.

The staff in a lot of my local shops are very grumpy atm, especially the charity shops. Bloody miserable lot round here. They are getting paid to be "Santa's helpers" XXX x

How sad. They will miss her too, your sweets will help to cheer them up. It's a lovely thing to do.
