So that's what the set designer from Spinal Tap is up to these days
"Cardiff council apologised when its £30,000 tree fell short of expectations.
The council said it had ordered a pre-decorated 40m - or 131ft - tree from China for outside Cardiff Castle.
"But when it went up it was revealed to be just 12m (40ft).
A council spokesman said: "We apologise to everyone who was expecting a bigger tree and are cutting the person responsible down to size."

We had one that was so wrong last year in our town. Some berk thought it'd be a good idea to fill a tree shaped cone with plastic carrier bags and chucked a few lights in it to bring the colours out. It looked truly awful. Oddly enough, there's a real tree in its place this time round. |

The worst Christmas tree was the one paid for by Brighton and Hove City Council did last year in the entrance to the Council Offices and it was planks of wood in the shape of a triangle with bits of rubbish from the beach arranged on them.

I like the sound of that. Nice to see recycling bought to good use and a highlight put on the rubbish discarded by the human race.
We have a lovely traditional tree, Peter Shilton turned the lights on for the town. |
