every time you buy electrical goods with rechargable batteries (e.g. lappies & mobiles) the charger connection is so different ...
no wonder so many electrical goods are going in to landfill...
if there was a common standard/connection then would save all round |

You can buy replacement chargers from the manufacturer of equipment provided its still supported.
If not, look on the equipment and see what its power supply requirements are, voltage, current, watts. Then buy an adaptable power supply of the size, slightly bigger power/current will be OK but never smaller power.
Such 'after market' supplies come with a multitude of connectors to suit 100's of products. |

"Isn't micro USB becoming the standard connection sometime soon "
Yes all the major manufacturers have singed up to it, Apple, Sony etc.
Will make life a lot easier in the future, I should know, I've been there. |

you missed the point ... every time you buy a 'device' you end up with a new charger when the previous one was probably still functional ...
sometime ago bought a charger for in-car powering of the last lappy - it came with 5 or 6 adapters for different machines ...
but none fit this new lappy (and am guessing if I go back to Maplin the only difference with the latest version of same product is new adapters) |
