I don't understand the first part, sorry! But with regards to the latter, of course it is. Just like posting on one is. And having a profile on here.
There's different types of attention though and different ways of getting it and that's where LAM accusations come in etc. |

What else is a profile for?
And as for threads, I can only speak for myself, but I've only started a 3 times. Once for some non swinging related advice and the others for some lounge banter. |

Ergo, anything seen as slightly dubious or of suspect provenance was dismissed as "trivia", the gossip of washer women.

Its a social networking site - of course our profiles are for attracting attention. As for posting on the forum, we are requesting people read and respond, therefore again, looking for attention. It's the whole point of Fab. |

Although my favourite Latin word is "otium."
It means a state of relaxation, of leisure, when a man could retire to his estates, drink his wine, screw the servants, whatever - relaxation.
It's also the root of "negotiate" - "neg-otium", ie, "not being at rest, doing business."
Today, otium survives in English as the word "otoise", which means "producing nothing of value."

The majority here are seeking attention through profiles, forum posts, chat rooms etc etc. I don't see a problem with that, after all it's a shop window.
I find it's how the person seeks the attention / validation is the crux of the matter. It can be either okay / endearing or downright annoying.
