That the people that are members of this site would be some of the most laid back liberal thinking, tolerant people, well that's what I thought. I like to puruse the forums and pipe up every now and then but it seems that there are lots of very opinionated people who get very upset, critical, rude, offended on behalf of the entire world's population and are actually the most judgemental small minded people I have come across. People don't have to agree on everything, one persons like is another's dislike. X |

There and to the left a bit |
It's the way of forums no matter what the subject matter really, the same petty squabbles, the same character types etc all spring up regardless of whether it's swinging you're discussing, or a favourite band. Think it has a lot to do with the anonymity of being sat behind the safety of a keyboard and an internet connection brings it out in some, who see it as a means to be crass, controversial or argumentative in a way they wouldn't be if you met them in the flesh.
Mercifully, there are plenty of good people too, to whom the above doesn't apply, and are the ones who put the fun into the forums. The trick is being able to ignore the former and seek out the latter. |

"Or you could make the observation that people who swing might be quite confident and outgoing people and so have strong opinions and are not shy about letting people know them."
No I wouldn't say that, there may well be some who really do not care about how or what they say, but sometimes when reading people's posts they are just gunning for a fight. It's even worse when there is a minority that disagree with the majority..... it's like wow wow wow people, settle down |

It happens on all forums, this is one of the tamer ones I am on.
It can make for unpleasant reading at times but I would much rather people gave their true opinion than cover it in false niceties. Some of us are gobshites in real life (actually, I'm worse in real life) and if I disagree with something, I'd much rather say. I do tend to post tongue in cheek most of the time apart from when it's a serious topic. Surely the whole point of a forum is it's a place where a myriad of viewpoints and ideas can be exchanged? Even if they are not pleasantries and happiness. |

As people have said it's the same on all forums, the distance and degree of anonymity that a screen provides can bring out the best and the worst in people

Yeah I do agree but there is no need for some of the insults and accusations that end up being part of a "discussion". I love a good debate and am quite happy to play devil's advocate but I do not feel the need to suddenly become and absolute arse just because of a difference of opinion like some do on here. Don't get me wrong, I can stand my own and I am not frightened of confrontation but I know when enough enough too. At the end of the day this is supposed to be a bit of fun where people can relax amongst like minded people... maybe maybe not x |

"I just like arguing with people I've never noticed that. "
That's because all the politics discussions have been moved out of the lounge and I'm too afraid to go into that forum anymore. |

Therein lies the answer to your issue with the forums OP but everyone is entitled to their own opinion/voice |

I don't become an arse when I log on, I'm an arse in real life too.
This forum is tame really because it's moderated. I used to be on a wedding planning forum and fuck me, that was brutal. |

The forum is made up of people.regardless of what they get up to sexually. Some are tolerant some are not. Most will have their own opinions. I never understand why because it's a swinger site people are all expected to agree and be shiny and happy. |

But an example that fits your point?
It depends on the topic. If it's about swinging and sex in general I'm pretty laid back. Other areas not so much.
I've been browsing the forums for 6 months, and I've seen the best and worst of it.
And we've been swinging for 12 years and any illusion of it of being open minded and liberal was shattered pretty early on.
The scene reflects society, which is becoming less tolerant.
Personally, I wouldn't say anything on hear I wouldn't be prepared to say to some ones face. |
