lots of singers,pop stars from the uk sing with an American accent,,why?

makes me cringe,,i mean why not an Italian accent

its always been the way,,its strange

Its to do with tone and harmonics, frank turner sings with an English accent, and it sounds so different to what were all used to.

The Jam, Madness, The Sex Pistols all had english sounding vocals. Don't know of any heavy rock bands though as that's my favourite genre.
