The stormy weather shouldn't make any difference to your mobile phone signal, unless one of the cell sites in your area has been knocked out possibly due to a power failure, lightning strike or similar |

Get a new phone. The newer ones get better reception. |

"i'm T mobile and its been playing up for a couple of days now"
You could have manually switched to Orange. They're the same company now and at my house Orange is better so I just leave it on that setting. |

Poor weather can knock out mobile base stations.... the comms to them are often on a microwave link and high winds can knock these off line. As mentioned above, power cuts will have an effect too, sites do have battery backups but only last a few hours.
If your on Voda and have a 3g phone, enquire with them about their 'access gateway'. This is a little box of tricks that plugs into your broadband connection and gives a mobile signal (3G only) in your house. You can register upto 32 phones with the unit and use any 4 of them at the same time. Gives a full 3G signal in houses of a decent size.
If your on Orange, they offer something similar but only on phones that are UMA enabled (some blackberries). Any calls you make go over your wifi network into the Orange system.
If your getting poor 3g overage, try turning the phone to 2g (GSM) only. The phone will be set to switch automatically but will always use a poor 3g signal over a good 2g signal, so by turning 3g off you can sometimes force it to use the 2g. (The 2g signal travels further than 3g and penetrates into buildings better than 3G).
Mind that all the networks are doing an awful lot of upgrade work all over the country, even more so this coming couple of years. Sometimes, if an engineer takes down one site to do work on it, it can effect several others around it, so causing poor signal.
Bet you cant guess what I do for a living eh? lol
