Why are holdups called holdups when they don't "holdup". And why does one leg roll down but not the other? And don't get me started on suspenders!

I like M&S for holdups ... the 'sticky' is wider and good quality and the sizing is good for my generously proportioned thighs. I still have one leg that is more of a problem than the other though - I think it's just one of those things!

Mmmmmmm - do you think we could get a grant to do market research to ascertain what makes a good holdup. I am sure our guys would be happy to partake of the experiments! lol

Been given an answer to my question - it is as follows:-

apparently the muscle rippling gently beneath the smooth skin causes subtle differences in pressure between flesh and hold up top across and around the leg and it slowly begins to descend or roll. As to why one leg and not the other, apparently we all have one leg stronger than the other and the ripples are more exaggerated (albeit miniscule differences) in the stronger leg.

Mmmmmmm explains a lot actually! lol

Until the meds wear off...

On the other hand....

If you buy two pairs, one smaller than the other.... You get two pairs of odd stockings... which fit...

Dont ask how I know that.....:$:$

I bought a pair of purple hold ups from Tescos, i liked them so much I bought 2 more when they had them reduced!!

I have had one pair where one leg kept falling down but i think it was more that it was faulty and the elastic wasn't right. And I should know as I wear them all the time

This also helps to get your nylon stockings back into their original state especially around the welt where you have to clip them onto the suspender clips.... Make sure you put them in a sandwich bag first though

Any particular type of sandwich bag BB? what closure do you recommend for the bag? and are the seams refreshed and extra tactile?

I would go for nothing less than zip lock, high class stockings need a high class sandwich bag TT as you well know! Cold seams are a delight to put on

I like Jasper Conran hold ups, they always stay up for me, as well as Marks and Spencer ones.

Otherwise I tend to buy ones with ribbons around, I feel more secure if ive got a length of ribbon cutting off my circulation

Ooo I like this explanation, so its actually muscles rippling below the smooth skin then, ooo strong muscles to clasp a guys head between, I like the thinking, though I always thought mine was cellulite to be honest
