Idea from Givemeyoursoul.
Would you go with dignity or cause a 'ruckus'?
I work alone so I can't relate right now. But when I left my last place of employment i was made redundant along with a few others. I walked over to a gorgeous blonde I'd been flirting with she stood up for a hug, I gave her a smacking big kiss. 
It felt good. And less embarrassing than walking across the tables telling the bosses what I thought of them.
(That was my other option).
I got a few pats in the back for it, rather than escorted from the building.

Well, I work for myself. So I'd tell my boss what I thought of them, proberbly take a shit on my desk, and then walk out the back door with a 'so long, fuckers' before coming back in the front door, cleaning up the mess, and making myself stand in the corner. |

Made me laugh. I've disciplined my self so many times I'm unsure how I've kept myself around. |

By submitting a written request, working out the required notice period ensuring a professional handover of my duties, and handing back any work-issued equipment such as laptops, telephones and ID passes before I left  |

I like my boss and my work colleagues.
I don't like some of the public I have to deal with.
I'd quite happily tell some of them what I really think of them if was going to leave. |

Working for myself, my boss is a bastard when it comes to time off for holidays/illness!  The day will probably come sooner rather than later when I have had enough and will just down tools and say it's enough. I've thought about it quite a bit. Selling up and buying a motor home or narrow boat has crossed my mind more than one or ten times.

When I left my last job I made sure I told the whole management team that they don't have a hope in hell of taking the company forward, because they don't have the vision or drive, my onlky regret is that I didn't take a mic in to drop on my way out |

Last job I left was the prison and I had to stay 6 months after handing my notice in, slightly awkward but glad I got out before the smoking ban came in! |

I thoroughly enjoy my job and the people who I work with are truly a fantastic bunch.
As much as I enjoy my job, I don't wish to retire there as I have ambitions, but if I was to leave my current place, it would definitely be with dignity and I would miss them all terribly! |

I tried to leave my last job with minimal fuss possible and got a hate campaign and character assassination in return (after they begged me to stay)
Don't think I'd change the approach to especially since my profession is quite specialised and everyone knows everyone |

I made a similar statement when I was made redundant a few years ago. The company went bust four months afterwards. |

I actually like where I work now, I get on with everyone from the owner, directors, managers and the majority of the workers so I'd happily had my notice in and say thanks to everyone.
My last job on the other hand, I walked out of threatening to wrap a crowbar round the sales managers head! |

I hate my job and a lot of the people I work with/for but I'd never cause a ruckus as I'm far too passive for that and would rather not get a bad reputation for future employers and ruin my career before I've even had one.
Also it's the adult thing to dom just be calm and leave. Bon voyage. Don't see the point in making a mess and being immature about it

I retired last week and worked my full day, cleared all outstanding cases, made a folder with handover notes: saved on the shared drive in case my boss needed to amend. Thanked my team for making me look good, thanked my boss and colleagues all with a smile and professional to the last, even though they were replacing me with a consultant they'd be paying £8k more as no one internally had my skill set.

I've literally handed my resignation letter in today. I will not be working in the New Year as taking at least 3 months off. My letter was professional and, although I will miss people, I'm looking forward to a break as had a job since I was 14 and worked hard all my life. |

I wouldn't risk causing too much of a fuss - it's quite difficult to get to where I am as a woman in the company. And a lot of people in the industry know each other well so wouldn't want my reputation to be fucked. I'd just quietly leave. |

I like who I work for, days off if I can't be arsed or got other stuff to do are not a problem, weekend working if I want it (sometimes when I don't) holiday pay is crap though as are sickness benefits..
Yep I work for myself..it has its good & bad points..
I'll leave before I get sacked though
