Yes, me too. My mother's into all that kind of stuff, so I grew up with it all. Read all the books. Seen all the documentaries. It's a little morbid but fascinating nonetheless.

Every now and again I have dark thoughts and sometimes think there may be one lurking deep inside me ready to come out if the wrong trigger was flicked....normally after spending too much time on the forum!

i read a book years ago that tried to explain it...suggested that nowadays we have no 'bogeyman'. no fairytale villains...and serial killers fill that void...they are something that we have no control over,we can be as careful of our own safety as we like in our everyday lives, but cannot predict or protect from someone like that..makes them almost mythical..seemed a sound theory to me..

My missus used to have a heavy interest in serial killers, true crime, things like that.

She ended up temping - office work - for a charity that helped people bereaved by murder and manslaughter.

There were 2 members of staff and my woman. One of the staff was out and about networking, setting things up while the other answered the phone.

People who's loved ones had been killed would call, in various states of collapse, pain and fury.

It really wasn't very nice.

no,i imagine not...i wouldn't have the strength to be around such pain...i'm very aware that reading sensationalised versions of hideous crimes is tasteless and a bit grim, but to me, the distance, whether time or physical, makes me able to con myself that its almost fiction..as well as a genuine curiosity as to where it comes from..

Yeah, and the woman who worked the phone went off sick (with stress and a sick grandson) and my other half bravely sat on the phone for 5 months while they fucked about thinking of a replacement.

And my woman would come home having heard the most dreadful things, which she couldn't offload to me because of confidentiality.

She actually said to me once that felt guilty because she *hadn't* suffered in the same way as the people she was speaking to on the phone line.

Had to bust her out of there.

Careful what you wish for.

"i'm very aware that reading sensationalised versions of hideous crimes is tasteless and a bit grim..."

I don't think that it is tasteless or grim. Some people will be curious and want to understand the mind of such murderers and others won't.

It is thanks to that curiosity, the curious mind of a few in my opinion that the crime investigation field has grown and the technology has developed.

I was more bothered by this one tbh where the police missed multiple opportunities to link murders and stop a killer.

.

Between August 2014 and September 2015, Port murdered Gabriel Kovari, 22, from Lewisham, Daniel Whitworth, 21, from Gravesend, Kent, and Jack Taylor, 25, from Dagenham, east London.

Their bodies were all found dumped in or near a graveyard within 500m of his home.

During sentencing Mr Justice Openshaw referenced the police investigation into the deaths.

"It is not for me to say whether the seeming bizarre coincidence of these three gay young men being found dead so close together might have given rise to suspicions that these deaths were not the result of ordinary self-administered drug overdoses," he said.

.

About ten years ago, as social media and internet connections were becoming more common, I decided to look up an old friend who lived in my home town because we had lost touch when I moved away.

A quick google search of his name brought up news articles about him. He was a serial killer . In his job as a nurse he had killed five old ladies and attempted to kill at least one more.

And it was the old story, of all the people I've known in my life, he was kind and sweet and quiet. There was nothing about him that would have suggested he was capable of anything like that.

Fifth Circle of Hell

Some great documentaries on youtube about serial killers and really interesting.

Sat and watched a docu about Armin Mievis last night, very eery.

Sounds very strange but Joel Rifkin is one ive followed closely. Quite a cold man but it was his honesty that struck me. Most killers are very brasen about their crimes but he said if he was ever released he would kill again and thats why he is pleased he will never be released. So many of them say they are reformed, like hell they are, at least he was honest haha

I wanna train to be a be a forensic anthropologist but 10years plus training, huge costs and no jobs about, no chance lol

Apparently my obsession with serial killers/killers/murderers is a bit concerning to some but hey I'm enjoying myself so oh well.

Couldn't get into that

I prefer fiction

I watch pretty much all the fictional crime shows as well as the factual ones. And read about them too.

Apparently my obsession with serial killers/killers/murderers is a bit concerning to some but hey I'm enjoying myself so oh well.

I've been told that too lol

"Yes, me too. My mother's into all that kind of stuff, so I grew up with it all. Read all the books. Seen all the documentaries. It's a little morbid but fascinating nonetheless."

My sister and I are like that. Our dad used to think us odd.

I've actually written a short story about a serial killer, not published yet but will be

All non fiction of course

That is very true. I find serial killers very fascinating and interesting.

But I definitely don't admire them. Maybe admire their intelligence but that's it.

I'm more interesting in their life stories, what happened before they were killers etc, how they started killing and how they killed people and how many they killed. And how they some of them slipped up and got caught.

Just interested in the whole story not just the killings but the person who committed them.

These days you need all these high grades to get into these kinds of courses. My grades are mainly average

Also I work full time and need the money so no time for studying unless I do it on the side.

His first victim he killed by accident and realised he liked having sex with them while they were in a zombie like state.

So he put bleached in their brains so they wouldn't run away

While I was pleased for Colin Stagg when the poor guy was proved to be the victim of a hideous entrapment plan, it did bugger up that (admittedly unscientific) theory somewhat.
