Infection control is your main concern, treat the wound with iodine then gauze and dress it.

"What about if you can't see somebody then would anyone have any recommendations on what to do?"

I would have said yes you need stitches or surgical glue.... the white layer you see is called the epidermis. That's quiet a deep cut if you can see that layer, plus more chance of complicated infections setting in. However seeing this is 7 hour old thread. There's nothing more to be done other than clean it, dress it and maybe a course if antibiotics! As the skin ends die off after 1 HR so the would won't nit back together correctly

Just leave it a few weeks. If your leg swells up and you get septicaemia , then it did need stitching. If it heals up on its own you didn't.

Make an identical sized cut in your other leg. The blood won't know which to come out of, and stay in your body.

There you go, it's fat, so while you have chance, scoop it out with a teaspoon and vacuum cleaner. Low-cost liposuction. Always look for the positive in a situation. The skin will also be looser, so easier to staple/glue/gaffer tape up.

Win-win

He didn't say where the cut was...

Even if it was a stabbing we (the staff on A&E) can't tell the police unless the patient tells us they got stabbed and even then we usually phone them at the patients request!

The number of daft excuses for injuries we get....Aww you really fell on that big dildo whilst mopping the floor naked? Oh and it was a burglar that put it up there..

no when next door complain to the police about the smell of death. They will send someone round to check. In a week or two

The answer is: If it is the size of a hole in a pullover that you'd want sewn up, your bit of meat needs sewing up too! Find a good knitter!
