I tried to convince Marc to buy a tree today but we've been too busy. We'll get one sometime this week and spend a day decorating and playing Christmas songs, whether Marc wants to or not. |

a quandary, could you change my mind? |
Tree has gone up today..
Didn't want to and don't normally until the 1st December, but so much going on I needed to sort this weekend. Just A couple of outside lights for one evening in the week to do. |

Have a couple of Christmasy ornaments that Gran left at the flat that I might put out at some point if I can be arsed. Will have a quick look on amazon later and maybe get 1 or 2 more if I see something I really like. |

They're not. I got pissed with Christmas when I worked in newspaper advertising artwork and our then advertising manager decorated the offices and played carols from September 1st right up to 24th December. I fucking hate it!!! |

"I put mine up while my son was at his mothers
I hate it, there's not enough lights on it for my liking " As much as I like fairy lights optic fibre ones if you get a quality tree can stand out and perhaps last longer in the long run. |

Just been to Edinburgh and due to the weather and the Christmas stuff going on, I do feel quite festive, but it'll be around the 10th when the tree goes up |

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack! |
I decorate the outside first but as some of the outside ones are needed for my vintage tractor and trailer for two Xmas Parades on the 10th and 11th, they wont go up until the following week. Inside ones will go up at the very last moment as we have a log burner and everything gets so dusty otherwise. |

"Did mine over the course of the weekend and feel all christmassy now. "
I don't have one, it's not.
Christmas is a godawful time of year. Probably the shittiest few weeks of all year.
Emotionally, I fucking detest it. |

I'll get a twig from the park on Christmas Eve. I'll spray it white, stick it in a pot and hang some fibre optic lights on it. It'll come down the 27th. Bah Humbug ! |

I only put a tree up for my kids benefit as personally, I don't celebrate the festival - but I think it would be unfair on my kids to deprive them of it due to my beliefs |

"I don't bother. No tree or decs or cards. It's just a couple of days off work to me. "
Blimey... I was just about to say I don't think I'm going to bother putting a tree up this year and then I read your post and it made me feel quite sad.
I think you literally just changed my mind! |

No... I get that vibe.
Truth be told I actually have to force myself into being jolly about it. I used to love Christmas but then a family thing ruined it so it went from being my favourite time of year to not liking it at all. |

Same as us since the children left home. Christmas is just meaningless exploitation by commercial interests. Decorations etc. are (in most cases) just tacky imported crap from China helping fuel our race to oblivion.
Why not do something more positive by the money you would have spent? Give it to Crisis at Christmas or plant a real tree somewhere and watch it grow for the future? |
