"I'm working in retail, discounting started Wednesday, but we aren't seeing the trade seems people are being careful this year. "
There seems to have been a trend to try to spread it over the week, this year. Plus there has been a lot of talk about how it's all a bit of a con. It'll be interesting to see the figures later.
Mr ddc
Ps. Good luck! |

I was gonna spend on some software I need to help speed up my workflow at the studio, but the discount is crap so I won't be bothering.
The whole thing is a nonsense. People clambering over each other to get discounted crap that's been gathering dust in warehouses all year. |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
I'm as cynical about "sale prices" as anyone, but for any given item, the question is always "would I pay that price for this?". Today is just a day when the question may get asked more - the standard required for a positive answer doesn't change |

Black Friday is indeed a con in many cases. Big signs saying Was £xx Now £xx when in fact two weeks ago it was cheaper.
Something I have been looking at on Amazon for about 2 weeks went up by about 20% last week but is on 'Sale' today for more than it was two weeks ago but it has a big Black Friday Sale label on it...

I do need some new clothes and I am a sucker for a sales pitch but loathed to buy in to the comodification culture. I'll just have to buy some stuff nearer Christmas when there's no choice and everything is dearer. |

another thing to bear in mind is that black Friday 'deals' in the shops aren't always refundable so you need to make sure you really need all that stuff that was probably cheaper yesterday anyway |

Yeah to right. Don't forget May day, morris dancing & jigging around the pole

a quandary, could you change my mind? |
I did go out and buy a Christmas present or two, why did I not realise that it was black Friday. Must say the shops I visited were quiet and more staff to help out, I already knew what I wanted and I did get a little discount on what I expected to pay. |

I was looking for a good deal on a Xbox for my son. Hadn't been impressed with the bundles that were available. Neither of us are into football, and the other bundles were both inappropriate for his age. He really likes driving games.
Fortunately Smyths did a Black Friday special on a Minecraft Bundle (he also quite likes Minecraft) which was £20 cheaper than their normal price, plus they were throwing in Forza Horizon 3.
