Continue here. I read an interesting thing in the other part and that is how would someone who cant afford a passport get help, if they would enforce it? Would a NI number be a better idea? |

I have no issue with this it happens all over the world why should we be any different ?
It will also stop any funny business with the figures for health tourism. I feel 300 million a year is far to to much and not a drop in anyone's ocean. |

The 'passport' thing was just news shorthand.
The actual story was 'some id' that could prove eligibilty.
Anyway, surely can't be that hard. They must need some reliable form of id already to prove to themselves that the correct medical treatment is going to the correct patient.
Why not have a fingerprint system? No cost to the patient. Also you can be correctly identified if in an accident etc ensuring you get appropriate treatment for any existing illnesses, blood type etc etc |

Yeah. I am abit confused over it as well, if it is for the uk or just health tourism or if they will introduce it or not, it was on the news yesterday.

They won't introduce it.
It will cost as much, if not more to administer than implement - particularly if you take account of the problems solely giving emergency treatment will cause in the long-term.
It's click bait crap from a government which is delivering the NHS into private hands on a daily basis. Richard Branson won a contract last week which will remove more money from the NHS in one foul swoop than all the so-called health tourists combined.

Virgin hasn't always been successful at this. They have also lost contracts when they have failed to deliver or tried to change the terms in their favour once appointed. |
