Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Do you look after all your needs, all the time, or are there times when you neglect yourself? If so, in what ways?

I don't give myself enough time on my own. Or rather, I'm not given enough time on my own.

Working too much.

Not switching off.

Lack of sleep.

Skipping meals.

Surviving on fags and coffee.

i used to very self neglect, now i enjoy looking after myself and know i deserve that.

think eating badly at times is my downfall, mostly not eating enough because i don't fancy something, but also eating the wrong things because they taste 'better' to me.

I rarely have breakfast or lunch, even though I do the kids theirs. I just don't feel hungry. If I have lunch it's normally when meeting a friend and we go out for it, but then I normally skip dinner.

I generally eat an evening meal... it's daytimes I'm a bit rubbish at. It's not a conscious decision... I sometimes get to 4pm and wonder what the noise is!

Not sure why I do it... I love my job so I'm just busy I guess. Need to stop smoking and lose some lard off my arse but not in the right frame of mind.

My life is pretty much work, children and sleep.

Skipped meals, minimal sleep and on the rare occasions my daughters mum bothers with them I'm usually too tired to do anything....or I'm cleaning/repairing/servicing tools and equipment.....but I wouldn't change a thing, they're worth any sacrifice

Yep often. Work, don't eat properly, don't take proper care of my health. Sleep patterns all over the place.

On the flip side other times I allow myself some real self indulgences - that category includes Fab meets.

But then all I have to do is be a little more conscientious, go to bed at a decent time (work in progress) and have proper meals rather than grazing as I go along.

I cut odd corners, though don't resort to big dangers. I've got pretty high standards for myself, including diet, health, sleeping, rest and exercise. I'll lapse with bits but not for too long or by large degrees.

My own needs are bottom of the list. I'm lucky if I get an hour after minions go to bed to chill out, usually end up falling asleep on the couch

I'm trying really hard to make a bit time to exercise as its really important to me.

I'm generally not too bad, though I could definitely eat better and should really make more of an effort to get more sleep during the week.

I do make an effort to excercise and spend time doing things I enjoy. Even if is just a nice evening snuggling up on the sofa with Cal.

Exactly this - if I go to sleep I might miss something or a film that I've only ever half been interested is on and I know I can watch it without interruption.

Or someone puts something interesting on a music thread and I get lost in the void of YouTube

this is my problem the last 18 months - 3 days a week at least i do a 12 hour shift - nature of the job means food isnt really uppermost in my thoughts so tend to eat a banana at most - go home and drop into bed after a shower and a brew - maybe cup of soup - obviously has a build up effect

"It sounds like most of us need to have a session with Nick Littlehales, the Sleep Coach. He's got a new book called 'Sleep'.

I read somewhere that hops promote sleep. I have taken this advice on board and am drinking beer.

Don't have too full a bladder... "

I've managed to navogate over 20 years of beer drinking without wee'ing myself so far. Winning.

Does seem to be a theme. 24/7 always on lifestyle to blame?

Urrgghh .... don't look after myself very well at all ...

Didn't eat tonight because I was writing a long mail to someone (and it wasn't even Fab!)

Drink far too much Pepsi Max

Eat far too much sugar

Don't get enough sleep - about 4 hours Mon to Fri

Don't nourish my soul enough, e.g. by reading, drawing or visiting museums, galleries, places of natural beauty

Don't listen to enough new music or whole albums

Don't exercise enough

Don't get enough (hardly any) time entirely to myself

Don't pamper myself enough - rarely have a bath due to time (I do shower!), or do my nails, hair, make up (unless I'm going out)

I kind of forget about myself and go without so others can have stuff, I really want to dye my hair as I haven't done it in four months but I never buy a box and new clothes, it's a real occasion when I do, the last time I actually bought myself some new clothes (apart from interview clothes) was last December and I really need more but with Christmas around the corner I know it will have to wait

For the past two christmas' I have forgone my mum and dads Christmas money and buy myself stuff, it's gone on more pressing stuff but I don't mind, it all helps

I wish I had enough time to think about myself. Recently it's been sleep deprivation and skipping meals... but generally I haven't had any time for myself in a while

This really resonates with me. I can be my own worst enemy sometimes. I've lost a lot of weight and when I'm in control of things, I'm very good to myself. If things start to decline, I find myself reverting to old habits and not being kind to my body or my mind.

Being good to yourself is a learning curve...

I have lupus. Take care of yourself and really listen to what your body is telling you. I allow myself whole days in bed when I know to do anything will mean a week or more of being ill. Prevention is better than cure.

Unfortunately I'm a bit far down the line now and need a kidney transplant (nephrotic syndrome/Glomerulonephritis) so quite poorly really. I do try and rest as much as I can tho. Sleeping days away whilst the kids are at school "

I'm pretty bad, again sleep always go to bed far later than I mean to, rarely have any me time - working full time I feel guilty for taking time for me on evenings and weekends when I could spend it with the kiddlywinks. Then I find it hard to spend money on myself but super easy to spend it on others

I eat too much, I don't eat enough, I eat the wrong things. I don't sleep enough, I sleep too much. I don't have enough time to myself, I spend too much time alone.

I eat okay, if a little too much sugar and junk food. Don't sleep enough on my 4 days on shift, then crash out and spend half my 4 days off in bed.

Whenever Marc has to travel and I can't go with him I tend to stop eating. It's not on purpose, I'm just a shit cook and I find it hard to make the effort.

It's ok, though, because Marc usually just makes my meals before he goes so I just have to microwave them. He says he doesn't want to worry about me not eating for days.

I hide away for weeks on end; I don't work to my full potential and have settled into semi-retirement when I probably shouldn't have. I am unsure of direction; I can go days without eating....

A world of my own

I'm pretty guilty of self neglect.

Despite being a big girl I often skip meals. I don't sleep well. I work too hard. I have a lot of stress in my life. And worst of all I'm rubbish at taking my blood pressure medication.

As a single mum of 3 with very little in the way of a support network. And 2 jobs totalling 50 + hours per week. I'm always last on the to do list. It happens and my boys are my world so I dont mind. However one thing I am trying to do is remove myself away from toxic people. To be more selfish and open about what I want and how I feel. And in general try not to be so hard on myself.

In which case we should meditate for an hour......
