Dear chums
Sat hear listening to Simple Minds , In The City Of Light .
A rather splendid album.
The track Alive and kicking reminds me of a wonderful friend and a past summer long gone by.
So what's your favourite live album or favourites even as I have a few notable ones
Even if some get a little bit of remastering in the studio later

"Also you could have 'Is there anybody out there?' which is a live recording of The Wall
And splendid too "
I still don't understand why 'When the Tigers Broke Free' didn't make the recorded album. |

INXS- Live Baby Live....recorded at the peak of their career
Orb- Live 93....trippy Wibbly sample greatness from the kings of ambient
Depeche Mode- 101....Double album of synth pop perfection
The Wonder Stuff- Cursed with insecurity- The mighty Mr Hunt and crew doing what they do best.
Professor Longhair- Live at the Montreux- The blues dude being most bluesey and dudey at the same time

Live In The City of Light is a GREAT live album. Recently re-discovered it after being fortunate enough to get invited to the Acoustic gig at the Hackney Empire week before last.
Lots of post-production and overdubs, so not strictly a true live album, but captures them at their best. |

"Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could Have Been

Thanks for the heads up on that one- just bought one off ebay as they're in my top 3 gigs ever from well over 1000 shows (bit perplexed by ebay telling me that people who've bought that were also looking at CD's from Shakespears Sister, Olly Murs and ELO......Really? ) |

"Fleetwood Mac - The Dance. The version of Rhiannon is by far and away the best version to me.
Yeah, it's got the extended intro, hasn't it? Love that version. "
Yep, it's beautiful |

Agree with The Wonder Stuff. I'm glad that after the original line up reformed the result was such an impressive recording. There are numerous TWS and Miles Hunt live CDs around but this is by far the best.

I've a bootleg recording of Floyd back in the mid 70's called Echoes in the Garden.
Features a pre release version of Animals, great quality, recommended to Floyd fans. |

The most brilliant live album i've ever heard is "One More From The Road" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. For a live album it's very well recorded, but the songs on it have you bopping around from start to finish. Plus of course THE best version of "Freebird" you will ever listen to. |

This
Mostly for "where did you sleep last night""
Right - I'm going to be listening to this later when I'm working ... had forgotten how much I used to love this ... |

I can't remember what it's called but one of my favourite live albums is by Metallica, who were accompanied by the San Francisco symphony orchestra for an epic set. |

That's the one, thank you. The font of musical knowledge.
It's an amazing collaboration, and an unusual one too. |

"Made In Japan - Deep Purple
Live And Dangerous - Thin Lizzy "
Live and Dangerous was nothing like a live album. The only live part about it was Brian Downey's high hat, the rest was re-recorded in a studio. It's bloody awesome though. |

u2 live at Leeds.. awesome show it's a bootleg but really good quality. u2 zootopia is a soundboard source of their zooropa 93 tour also worth getting. pink Floyds lube album is awesome though, especially the start, paired Loud thru a really good hifi with a decent sub (subwoofer, that is hehe)
