It's been a while - time to do this thread again I think!
What advice would you give your 18 yo self if you could go back in time and meet?
Could be fun, deep, tongue in cheek - anything!
Me? Overcome that awkward shyness you twat! Go ask that girl out that you regretted not asking for years!

Don't settle down young, it's a big wide world, go off and explore, be confident, be adventurous, do what makes you happy instead of trying to please others all the time.
Thankfully my 17yr old son has listened to my advice and is leaving his countryside home and heading for city life.

This is the advice we've tried to instil in our kids too. Hopefully they'll fuck off to Australia or some other far flung corner of the globe soon and give us some peace!

Stop worrying so much about what everyone else thinks and things actually get better the more confident and outgoing you eventually become.

Don't waste another second on those people who are supposedly your friends. They're not! Don't waste another second doing things you're only doing because that's what people expect you to do. Do what your heart is telling you to do.
You're not a weirdo. Embrace those things that make you totally different to the people around you. Don't hide them away. Don't fear embarrassment. Don't fear failure. Just be yourself. Only then can you find the true road to happiness.
Only ever be where you're welcome. Spend as much time as you can with the people you love because they can be cruely taken away from you at any moment.
Have more confidence in yourself. You have as much right to be here as anyone else. Don't let yourself be pushed around.

In a way I wouldn't change a thing. Yes I've made mistakes but I've also learned valuable lessons. All the 'past years' have shaped and molded me into the person I am today.......
I kinda like the 'me' I've become and I'm loving my life at the moment |

My 18year old self needs a good telling off - don't settle, aim for the best you can get. Concentrate on career and don't let men get in the way.
Now in my 30s I'm starting my life again the proper way but it's hard giving up everything you had come to know but I'm looking forward to doing things the proper way this time
