"What about all the other body shapes?

I wouldn't worry, I've seen various threads and posts putting down women that work out or want to be muscular and toned.

Most people will happily tell me how I'm making my body look disgusting and unattractive..they say this to my face. Not one or two folk...loads!

I've never once said anything negative to a person about their body shape.

It's your body, no one has the right to tell you what you can or can't do with it. If you want to get toned up then so be it, it's your choice.

Some people should keep their thoughts to themselves if they don't like it

Couldn't agree more, I blew up at one of my work colleagues after taking crap all week for my eating habits and gym routine.

I asked her why she found it acceptable to say that to me but would never tell a person that they are disgusting and overweight/underweight. They were speechless at first and then admitted they would never do that but felt the need to express their opinion on my body type but couldn't explain why. She did apologise and did see my point.

There was a tread about women who do bodybuilding etc yesterday, made me feel crappy about myself. Tis life though. There are body types of all shapes and sizes and I will never please everyone.

I adore a fit body and work to keep mine in some sort of decent shape.

However, beautiful eyes, smile and personality trump everything! Don't really care what shape someone is in if they have those.

While we all have preferences a person comfortable in their own skin will always be more attractive than one that isn't. But no one body type is 'best' and people that argue one is are pretty short sighted

Women who do weight lifting are incredibly dedicated and I personally love it when they can squat and bench press more than guys at the gym!

There's this stupid misconception that just because you want to lift weights, that you're building huge muscles.

I have no idea why people need to comment on anyone's body. People are such dicks!

I don't have a gym fit bod. But I could probably out lift and out run a lot of the women that claim to have.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to completely disagree with you there.

I'm a firm believer that everyone has a preference. I'm quite strong in my opinions about body shapes and sizes and don't agree when people are negative about them. I think you'll find that the only time I have commented is if someone has been overly negative, harsh or judgmental about a body size. Be it slim or bigger. Also, some generalise on here, which I will comment on.

I'd be interested to see these replies you speak of...

Sooooo, how's this thread doing...

Let's see:

Gym-fit guy says "hi" - thread full in under an hour.

Gym-fit woman says "hi" - 9 hours later, 40 posts in, hardly a single complimentary post.

Is there not a better example of Tall-Poppy Syndrome on Fab, and how a small, and sometimes extremely aggressive, minority can force their insecurities onto others?

I wonder if there are any examples of people posting on both threads...

.

I feel guilty now, OP, so may I apologise, and be the first to say you are very attractive, and welcome to the forums.

I sort of passed this thread by when it first was posted - I didn't see any introductory message or greeting and thought it would be about gymming which to me is an unnecessary evil (although I admire those who push through that barrier).

I believe that by inaccurately describing it as Tall Poppy syndrome (being fit isn't a high status) there's projection of your inner feelings that it should be resulting in the inaccurate interpretation of the thread as being projected insecurities. There are better examples of Tall Poppy syndrome as this thread is not one.

Anyways, welcome OP! Sorry for failing to see it as an introductory thread, I hope you settle in well.

Do we actually know that it's the female of the couple who has posted this thread? I'm not aware that he or she was describing themselves as gym fit either, as opposed to commenting on a physique and clothing they liked to see on others.

Anyway, like Meli, I think it's an inaccurate comparison between two completely different types of threads, posted at different times of day. And if your comparison thread is the one I'm thinking of, a lot of the posts on that were as a result of his dismissive comments about other men, and people objecting to that. A lot of fawning as well, of course. But I think you're trying to make this into something that it's not.

I didn't see that pic. So I can only comment on what the thread actually says. Which doesn't say whether it's the male or female, doesn't say "I'm a gym fit woman" and doesn't say "I'm new, hello." You've ignored the rest of my post, and that's fine, but I don't class it as bullshit. There are many fine examples on here on a daily basis of double standards and bullshit, I remain completely unconvinced that this is one of them.

Meh. I saw the word "gym", I saw the word "fit", I paraphrased in order to enhance the similarities.

As for the rest, yes, everyone ignored my point about why "hi guys do you prefer fit women"(paraphrasing again, but it's there if you look) achieved such a different response, too.

"Do we actually know that it's the female of the couple who has posted this thread?

She said "I'm doing sit-ups. I'll post proof" and had a pic of her doing sit-ups. There status says "hi". So yes, I think that confirms it as a LAM thread.

The fact that the sit-up pic has now been removed after the reaction this thread received? Who knows.

As you know, I just like to call-out bullshit" and make people think. If they choose not to do so, that is not my business.

Plus ça change, eh? "

A different response due to it not being what either poster stated. If both posters were to have started the introductory message at similar times the response would have been similar. I understand there is umbrage on your part due to lack of appreciation for 'fit' women but I fail to see how two threads so different are accurate comparative tools to peddle your point.

"I too have learnt that the only acceptable answer is "face".

Mr ddc

There's nothing wrong with having preferences...

True, but if anyone who comments on someone's body shape is a dick, then it makes expressing them too difficult for someone like me to successfully navigate.

Did you actually see Eve's original post? She said that someone at work came and commented on her body without her asking for an opinion. Those people are dicks. The one's who don't realise they can make you feel truly terrible about yourself.

Please don't twist my reply to someone else to mean other things. "

l agree that those people are dicks but you can't let someone else make you feel terrible about yourself. l can genuinely say that despite any hateful messages l've had, it has never made me feel bad about my body or myself.

So you don't find it in any way interesting that not a single man was comfortable about saying "I find fit women sexy" despite the evidence of hot pics?

No umbrage on my part, I just thought I smelled something fishy, and wondered if I was alone.

It seems I am.

Which is fine.

I still haven't disclosed my preference, which you would find ironic if you knew...

No, I don't find it particularly interesting. People post how they wish, when they wish. An attempt to correlate it in order to get across a point is not something my mind would do. I guess I just think differently. Your preference in what? Fit men or women? Body types? Women? Cars? I'm not being facetious but I genuinely do not know and the ellipses have only added to the insurmountable task of deciphering that final sentence.

I think keeping fit is good but other body shapes are nice too but for me its all about how that lady carries herself as whole !
