Morbid I know but social media accounts can be closed by loved ones but if your single and no one knows your here and u pass away is there a time limit set by fab in which in active accounts are terminated |

That's a good question, if I die all my tech has to be handed to my mate ian, for "cleaning" then passed back to my children, and I'm doing the same for him, it started out as a joke but it makes sense. |

Don't think I've seen this question asked before - kudos on thinking of something original to ask; albeit morbid as you rightly described. |

But surely if someone hasn't been active for say a yr or 2 someone must think mmmm maybe we should send an email stating we will delete account if no log in detected in x amount of days I know banks will send out letters if they feel you are not using your account enough threatening to close your account and wondered if fab would too |

We have what we call a death file so that when either of us dies a friend of ours will help delete various accounts and has all our bank details, pin numbers, house deeds, the will, family contact details etc etc. At our stage of life it has to be considered. Irresponsible to not have made arrangements. |

Maybe fab should have a policy of automatic deletion of accounts after say 3yrs if the account holder hasn't had any outgoing activity on it in that time scale but send an email to the account holder prior to termination |

There are a number of reasons why Fab should automatically hide profiles if they have been inactive for a period of time but this is by far the most compelling argument.
That said I think admin have deleted profiles previously following reports of people dying |

So maybe we the people should ask fab for a clause that is activated after a certain amount of time that will erase your account and all emails sent from fab if your account becomes in active after a set period of time what do u Think |

I don't really see the point. The profile will just gradually end up at the end of any searches as the person won't have logged in. And they won't care, because they're dead. |

ive arranged the same thing along with a document with all my passwords to all my online accounts which is kept with my will. think of all the property people own on line not just music and films but other stuff that would all be lost. I think all wills should now have an electronic data clause |

It will be there for the future when ancestry dot com buys up the rights to all historical social media sites once the 100 year rule is up...
And all of your shenanigans will be there for your great grandkids to be totally shocked by as they slowly work out your entire life history from every journey you have taken from your Google maps data to what you had for dinner via your online food shopping order...
So not only will they know who you've shagged, they'll know where, for how long and what flavour of condoms you ordered for that night.. |

I remember a local young lad being killed in a car accident on the way home from a club a few years back
A few of us reported it to admin and his account was removed after a while |

A very well known tgirl from here and the club scene passed away earlier this year.
Im not going to name her here as not needed x
She was so well known, and i guess because of that, admin heard and sadly took her profile down.
I know it would have come to be seem that her profile was inactive, but would have been a fitting tribute to her to have kept her profile for her friends to remember here by

My ex bf died in May, we met on a well known fish dating site even after we broke up we stayed really good friends. 3 weeks ago he popped up (excuse the way I said it) as an ideal match for me.
I reported he passed away gave the date etc and was told nothing they could do as I wasn't family.
I contacted his brother and he emailed them.
Seeing his face almost sent me to join him bloody git, he would be posing himself laughing up there. |

Oddly this is something I be thought about and discussed with other fabbers. Ive no idea what would happen to my profile if I died. As long as someone doesn't hack it and make my face pictures permantly public or post them else where im not overly fussed. |

I have never wondered about what will happen to this fab account if we die whilst it's still active, and to be honest I really couldn't care.
For important issues then obviously my solicitor who holds my Will has the job of selling property and closing accounts. I don't deem Internet forums important enough for me to make any arrangements. |

I've often wondered about this kinda thing - some interesting and touching responses.
Different thing really, but the following made me laugh.
I met a woman on here who has an agreement with her friend. She's given here a key and the secret location of a box of "personal items"
If she gets run over by a bus, said friend is to get round her house pronto and liberate the box before others stumble on it .
How the hell we got on to chatting about that I'll never know - the box had been out though. |

As I tend to "hide" my profile if I know I'm going to be off for any length of time (e.g.: holidays etc), then I'd probably do similar if I was, say, going into hospital or taken ill. Just a suggestion if folk think they it could help. |
