Hey all,

Is anyone a mac expert? I have a 2011 mac and my track pad isn't working.

It's clicks and moves, but I cannot select anything. I've tried the 2+3 finger clicking methods but nothing.

Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry random mood. Only thing I can think of is although it is clicking, it may not be connecting properly. I'd say the pad may need checked

you can't open it up at all? its a unibody (solid aluminium casing?)....

First question I have to ask is do you use a magic mouse if so, is it nearby....? If it is, switch it off

If you don't use a magic mouse your laptop has reached the end of its life; the battery is swelling (as it deteriorates and gets old) which is pushing up on the track pad; hence no click

I dont know if you got it fixed or other solutions but here is a reason for a common issue.

there is a fix you can use if you have a mouse (but still wish to to use the track pad).

Open up the system preferences from launch pad

select track pad

check the box "tap to click" (this removes the need for a physical depression of the track pad);

if you still have a service agreement; take to an apple store and ask them to check the battery condition
