Many things in this world puzzle me...

Most recently, what is the difference between baking and roasting? You put things in a hot box and wait for it to cook.

What puzzling things do you want to know the answers to?

Maybe roast indicates cooking something in an oven but it's based in a liquid or juice of some sort?

"Maybe roast indicates cooking something in an oven but it's based in a liquid or juice of some sort?"

I had roast chicken... In a bag! So no juice except it's own.

I found this on Google

"If you're cooking food that has a solid structure — like any type of meat or vegetables — no matter the temperature of the oven, you'll roast it. If you're cooking food that doesn't already have a solid structure, but will after it's cooked — like muffins, cake, bread, and casseroles — the proper method is baking."

But baked potatoes have a solid structure..

This is my puzzle for today. I saw a middle aged lady today and she had a bandage from her ankle to her knee. Not covering the ankle. It wasnt a support bandage just a normal one.

Now she was wearing the bandage over the top of her trousers and i havent worked out why yet

i think it's a potato you peeled first without the jacket...but then this makes it a roast potato.

Baked is using moisture within to cook. for example thanks to moisture and baking powder the cake or muffin rises in the baking process. The process for jacket/baked potatoes is when its own moisture cooks the potato. Where roast uses fats or juices to colour and make crispy. Same goes for meats using its fats and juices to colour and aid the cooking process..... And breath hope this helps

hard things tend not to scratch when your running your finger over it but be brittle when dropped, softer things tend have more elasticity so avoid breaking when being dropped but will scratch easier with grit and dirt rubbed along the screen.....

It's basically a fine balance

haha.

ok, genuine answer is baked potatoes are a lie, they are some kind of cooking paradox.

also, i googled 'are baked pototoes roasted' and found a very interesting answer, on some random forums, not run by cooking experts or anything. and roasting used to mean cooking on an open fire and baking used to mean cooking in an enclosed space.

not sure what i am learning now, or if it's relevant, but isn't google an amazing time pass sometimes.
