At the moment I am not looking to move roles but I would move roles if the right job was to present itself
I have decided to start sending out my cv to recruiter/agencies to ensure they have the latest cv on file
I was wondering if this is ok to do as I am not really looking for a new job
Feeling confused |

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with doing it.
But you got me confused by saying you're not looking to move roles, but would if the right one came along. So doesn't that mean you have a specific area you're interested in and that if it came up you'll happily make the leap to go for it?

I suppose it depends on supply and demand for someone with your skills and qualification
Unless you anticipate being head-hunted because of the potential value of your experience and expertise , I would say don't bother sending out a new CV if your immediate ambition is being satisfied by your present role...
If you are prepared to turn down jobs offers that don't meet your expectation you risk alienating yourself for candidacy for future jobs in the prospective companies you've chosen to turn down... |

What's a CV?
How I've got through life, I'll never know.
Never been interviewed for any job I've had.
I reckon if I wasn't self employed, I'd be fucked, wouldn't even know where to start. |

Only if you can be bothered with the phone calls and emails from recruiters.
I logged in to all the sites a few weeks ago just to change over my email address and it prompted endless phone calls. |

it's a bollocksy bit of paper you have to put down on what your good at and what qualifications and such you have
I've written and sent them before while looking for work but can't remember the last time I actually got a job through those 'official' channels. I tend to find it through just knowing people or failing that I can make money through more nefarious channels. used to be employers would stick an ad up in the paper or wherever with a number to call and you'd ring up, go for a chat/interview and go from there.
It's all on line applications and online assessments and e mail your c.v here and there. It's so long winded and shit now it's not worth the bother. |
