Another one heading to the gig in the sky. As much as I am sorry for the loss, I can do without fucking 'Hallelujah' being played every 5 fucking minutes..

This paragraph in the BBC's story feels poignant:

In July this year, when he heard that Ihlen [long time lover and muse Marianne Ihlen] was near to death, he wrote to her: "Well Marianne, it's come to this time when we are really so old and our bodies are falling apart and I think I will follow you very soon."
