It is 98 years since the guns fell silent in World War One at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month
May we Remember and respect our war dead. |

Shoes polished. Kit ironed. Hair cut...standards maintained. Ready to stand and show my respect. Hopefully this year people who don't agree with it will keep their views to themselves. And thanks to Fab for displaying their support. |

In Flanders fields,the poppies blow.
Between the crosses row on row that mark our place.
And in the sky the larks so bravely singing fly.
Scare heard amid the guns below.
And at the going down of the sun we shall remember them.xx

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap.
An' hustlin' d*unken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an` Tommy, 'ow's yer soul? "
But it's " Thin red line of 'eroes " when the drums begin to roll |

Lost 2 good friends and many others over the years. Both on ops and at home.
I've seen the worst humanity can throw at me and on a split second after I've then seen the best.
For me Rememberance Day is not just about the dead. It's also about those who lived. Those who carried the burdens of war throughout the rest of their lives. What they saw, what they heard.
I will remember them

For those who sacrificed their lives to keep this country of ours free from tyranny and for the right for people to express themselves freely, even idiots who sneer and call us hypocrites .
Thanks all, at 11:00 we will be silent and remember all those who have served our great country. |

Agreed on those that lived my uncle was on tour he swapped shifts with his best mate and his best mate got shot and killed
My uncle lives with that to this day
PTSD / shell shock is and was one of the hidden injuries of war. Not only did it effect the service personal but also their family's and loved ones

I was asked today why I wear a poppy badge all the time, my answer is because it is not just for november but to remember the fallen who bravely fought & died for freedom,& good to see all my guys on the sites with a poppy sticker on their hard hats, we should be thankful to them all regardless of race creed or colour, our prayers are with them all. |

Spending some time reflecting and sending good thoughts out to friends still serving on operations right now. Keep your head down and come home safe.
