"Take the tour bus, that's a starter, you'll pass all the major tourists spots so you can get off and back on the bus."
The river tours are good, but doing a Duck Tour might be a tad chilly.
There's a great walk along the river from Borough Market, start there for breakfast, along the Thames to the SouthBank, then cross Hungerford Brdige and walk up to Covent Garedn for some Lunch and afternoon Crimbo shopping. |

If you are into modern art:
Tate Modern on the south back is fantastic ( good food there, too) cross the footbridge to St Psuks; take a walk/ browse round Covent Garden;
The National Portrat Gallery ( Trafalgar Square); there is a fantastic Picasso special exhibition on there at the moment . |

Until 5th February;
It's a great exhibition; shows the development of his styles over the years really well.
After 5 feb the exhibition moves to Barcelona and opens there at Easter for 6 months. |

London is split in three areas.. Southbank which is south of the Thames and is literally along the waters edge all the way from tower Bridge to Westminster Bridge by the London Eye.. The city which is the financial district and tends to be quieter at weekends with the exception of Liverpool St, Spitalfields and Hoxton just north of it. Denis Severs house is worth a visit along with the old Spitalfields market.. Of course you have st pauls to the east but there are many churches tucked away worth a visit including Allhallows just along from the Tower of London and st Brides to the west.
Heading across to the west end, there is Somerset house by the strand which is definitely worth a visit and has the ice rink there, Covent Garden is only 5 minutes away just north and Trafalgar square to the west which leads to Buckingham palace..
Just wander, walk up the alleys and generally get totally lost.. You'll be amazed what you find..

get along to the V & A and the national portrait gallery...

A ton of touristy things in central London to do...the Shard, the Eye etc...also if you want to venture out a bit then West is best (totally biased here!) places like Kew Gardens, Chiswick House & a ton of lovely places to eat, drink & be merry around Putney, Richmond, Wandsworth, Chiswick etc all along the river x |

Some great ideas above...walking along the Southbank from Tower Bridge to the old City Hall taking in Borough Market as already suggested is a good one...as is Spitalfields/Brick Lane and if you head there Dennis Severs House is a must (but check opening times as they're irregular).
Other than that Natural History Museum, Science Museum and V&A all within walking distance of one another, and free are excellent. Museum Of London near The Barbican is great too. |

This . Walking and bus hopping is a much better way to get around central London than using the underground |

Personally of swerve winter wonderland. Just madness over there.
Borough street market should form any part of a London trip.
Would recommend the video installations at 180 the strand currently as well.
Swimming at the Olympic park is pretty cool as well |
