little house on the praire

Anyone want to talk about their cats post here.

I love the personalities of my cats.

The fact they all gravitate towards the old one (16 no teeth)

Shes lying here shes quite a big cat and two of the others are lying on her back and one of them is grooming the other two. This is a new thing shes started doin grooming the others.

Its the fact they are all rescue, got them at different times yet all 5 just get on perfectly especially as some wouldnt go near each other to start with

My cat was my calm in a storm. When I would wake up in the night, feeling anxious and scared, she would be there to cuddle and take my mind of it.

My cat has had a complete personality change since his sister was killed by a car about 6 months ago. He used to be quite timid and skittish, but has got a lot bolder and more affectionate. I think maybe she was bullying him.

My female cat was sadly hit by a car in august. She was stroppy, grumpy one.

My male cat is a pain in the arse because he moults something chronic (14 now and he's going grey!) but he's so calm and placid. He lets my little girl put hats on him and all sorts!

"We have 2 cats here, a black and white one that of getting on in years, hardly any teeth left but still puts up a good fight with anyone that annoys him.... the other one, the other is a 'Strawberry blonde' ....OK ginger! And he thinks he is a dog!

He even does tricks, comes on command and sits.

Wouldn't even without them, as much as a pain in the arse they are... both love to wind the dog up."

Yeh my female one used to wind the dog up something chronic!

Mad cat lady here ... I've only got 3 cats at the moment, but have had up to 5. Am hoping to get 2 kittens in maybe a couple of months.

My cats have always been rescue ones, 'unfortunately' I live 15 mins drive from a cat shelter which is hard to resist.

Am lucky to live in a very quiet no through road with fields and woods a few steps from the house so it's an ideal location for cats and the road is full of them! Though that means a hell of a lot of 'wildlife' brought back frequently.

Have got 2 gingers and a black one ... would love 2 black girls ideally to put the boys in their place and to get the 'balance' of our cats back to normal as I've usually had more black cats than ginger.

The oldest ginger is driving me mad atm yowling for food while the younger one is a complete soppy teddy bear of a cat and is an utter cuddly mummy's boy

It's awful to lose them at any time but worse when they get killed as it seems so unfair. We found an abandoned kitten last year who was desperately ill and needed 4 months of vet treatment at an animal hospital before we took him home with an all clear .... only, after going through that, to develop FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) which is incurable and the kindest thing therefore was to have him PTS at the age of only 8 months in May. He only had 2 months of ordinary life and never became an adult cat - it was heartbreaking, I can still cry now thinking about it.

But I try to look at it that if I previously had enough space in my heart and home for a cat, and a 'space' becomes available, no matter how tragic the circumstances, that there are so many other cats needing homes - and that doing so isn't a 'betrayal' of your previous pet. The only reason I haven't got any more yet is because I needed to get holidays and weekends away behind me.

We have four little darlings, two boys and two girls. Oldest is the boss, she's 12 and even bosses us around lol. She's the neighbourhood tart and is often found visiting whoever will have her. One neighbour once found her asleep on his pillow and she used to go to the local pub with a former elderly neighbour. Our boys are about a year younger. One is very vocal, only time he's quiet is when he's asleep on top of the warm radiator. Other boy was a stray who we adopted 2 years ago, a huge fat cuddle bug. Finally the baby is about 7. She's a tiny little ball of sass and attitude!

We did have a 5th cat for a while too. He was a skinny old boy who just turned up one day and moved in. We never intended to have more than the four we already had but MrWhiskers decided otherwise. We took him to the vet who said he was at least 16 years old and said his health was failing fast. We decided to give himheaps of love and spoil him for however long he had left. Six months later we said goodbye. It was heartbreaking but we'd do it again in a heartbeat!

I love cats, I've had as many as 6 at one point. My house is full of cat photos and ornaments, I have an eclectic variety of cat t-shirts and my Facebook has more pussy pictures than this site lol.

But I'm not allowed a cat anymore because my wife doesn't like the way they look at her!

Just another reason why I shouldn't really be married. She often says I'll end up a sad eccentric old man surrounded by cats and empty wine bottles. She says it like its a bad thing

Well normally I would be here posting about how cute, cuddly and almost human mine are, about how funny they are, how they both have their own funny ways and personalities.

BUT, and a very feckin big but, I'm going to say that if they keep waking me up at 4am because they want to play, ( not kittens btw) or they want cuddles, or they don't like going down on their own to eat, then the little feckers are going in a great big cat pie a very knackered, Mrs blue eyes

Been there, done that, got the bags under my eyes to prove it.When I lived in an apartment block, I had to go out at 3am to stop a fight.Walked back through lobby with two hissing kicking cats, one in each hand, had to ask the night guard to open my front door lol, then explain why I was keeping cats when they were forbidden. Oops

I must admit I wasnt a cat person before I met Miss. She has 2 rescues, 13 and 14 I believe, called Guiness and Twiglet, though I call them Gdog and Tbag. They are really cute and have so much personality. In fact she gets a bit jealous cos Tbag has taken a real liking to me lol. Shaking her tail and rubbing up against my leg then rolling on her back for a tummy rub. Couldnt imagine being without cats now. Jack.

I used to have brother and sister Siamese cats, and loved them to bits. After that I had two extremely affectionate Tonkinese sisters who never left my side, followed me every where around the house. I remember waking up one rather cold night and they were either side of me under the covers, my very own hot water bottles I miss the company, cuddles and affection of cats but after the last one died I couldn't face the upset of losing anymore. That doesn't stop me looking longingly at the cat pics in the RSPCA shop window, silly old fool that I am! lol

Maybe you could consider becoming a cat foster mum for cats and kittens who need to be socialised, or who get stressed out by conditions in the cat shelter?

Yup, i'm practical about animals and i'm a meat eater but know where it comes from (not just a packet).

But, if you own a pet, treat it responsibly or don't have one. Never really understood when someone has a short term ban on keeping pets. If you've not got he care to look after one you shouldn't ever have the opportunity again.

my cats all come from the same place. You match your home enviroment.

So because i always go for old cats the criteria has to be will get on with other cats, because mine are hold i wouldnt have a kitten. But if you have a kitten you might be suited to a more livelier cat and also you can have indoor or outdoor cats.

Look up your local cats homes and ring them up. Mine also do a postcode check or a home check.

But so many cats there will be lots to chose from.

"Can you have a rescue cat with a kitten? Mines 8months old so not tiny. I was thinking of getting another and now thinking a rescue one would be good. Do the nspca have a website or do you have to go to the centre? Xmy cats all come from the same place.

But so many cats there will be lots to chose from."

Thanks for that

"I'm a happy cat owner today - one of mine went awol just before Halloween but turned up this morning, starving but without a mark on him I'd started to think we wouldn't see him again so nice start for the weekend!

Aww bless him, that's great news. It's horrible when they go missing.

Hated not knowing where he was... I kept calling for him, eldest son thought I was nuts lol "

Awww that's so cute. Glad he's ok. My little cat hides over the road and if I shout him he always appears from the same spot through the bushes every time x

do you know the joy for me, is getting cats and nurturing them, getting them comfortable and watching them start to interact with the others, mine are all sociable and love each other, its amazing to just watch them all together. One of mine had a very dubious past and wouldnt even be in the same room as me or another cat, you wouldnt believe it if you saw him now. First time i came downstairs in the morning and found him cuddled up with another one i couldnt stop crying.

"Anyone want to talk about their cats post here.

I love the personalities of my cats.

The fact they all gravitate towards the old one (16 no teeth)

Shes lying here shes quite a big cat and two of the others are lying on her back and one of them is grooming the other two. This is a new thing shes started doin grooming the others.

Its the fact they are all rescue, got them at different times yet all 5 just get on perfectly especially as some wouldnt go near each other to start with"

I love my cat.

She wants cuddles all the time. So timid and loving.

Scared of her own shadow though

I have two male cats

One is 2 1/2 and other is 10 months old

Eldest one is ignorant and just likes to wander around like he owns the place he doesn't meow or purr

The other is like a baby, constantly meowing and follows me everywhere, he meows like he's shouting at me and purrs all the time !!

Can completely appreciate that. As a so-called (by the cat home) multi cat household I've introduced several cats to each other over the last 20 years or so, and providing you choose them carefully in the first place and take everything slowly (IME anyway) I've never had any problems with my tribe, past or present. It's lovely to see them getting on first the most part and the cat politics that goes on.

i have 5 cats, 4 are rescue, i lost my old lady last year and she was nearly 20 she had been with me about two years and was always frail. Her arthritis was so bad she could only sit on the floor, with medication and suppliments she got to be able to get on chairs and the table and i know she had the best end of life.

The only thing is taking old cats is knowing they wont be around forever.

But i just want to give them the best life they can have. Im very passionate about cats

Awwww I dread to think how it feels to loose one. My little Pablo sits in the bushes and the lady over the road has two older cats a big tom and a big girl called Tilly. He sits and jumps out at them, they kind of tolerate him it's cute to watch. The other day Tilly came into my house and Pablo looked like he'd seen a ghost he was sat there in shock I think eyes wide open staring at the damn cheekiness he was probably thinking. So funny x

yes, they have 4 trays between them. Its the only downside making sure you catch the tray as soon as theu pooed. Mornings when i first come downstairs when theyve all been is a bit pongy lol. But the funniest is being on cat shit watch before i have "friends" over i reckon i spend more time checking the trays than getting ready

I used to have one that would leap at the back of my robe & climb up to sit in my shoulder parrot like while I'd put the kettle & toast on in the mornings..which was really cute.

Except in the summer when I'd do it in the nuddy or with just boxers on..

But I'd stand there & still let her do it, clawing all the way up my back......

Hmmmmm..

Stoke area

I have two cats, brother and sister I got from a local rescue centre. As kittens they were found being used as a football by teenagers in the street !. Took a while to recover from internal bruising and for them to trust us.

Super fun kitties now. Rolo sits on people's knees and rolls over (often falling off).

Splodge loves bringing me things and this morning I woke to a small fluffy cat toy, a pen, a washing up sponge and a packet of tissues on the bed. Prefer that to being brought a mouse or bird

Lovely to read all your cat stories, although some have me in tears.

Lost my eldest rescue cat recently, she had failing health and the night before walking over The Rainbow Bridge, she slept all night curled in my arms.

The others knew, they spent the next few days around me. It's amazing the intuition that these beautiful creatures have.

Tell you what mine do which is funny. If one has to go to vets i go get the cat carrier out the shed, i usually do this the day before cause i love watching them.

They go and sit in it, sit on top of it. Sometimes a couple will squeeze in it together. One uses it as a grooming parlour and goes in it to groom herself.

But when the time comes to take them will the one that needs to go get in it. Will they buggery.

Then they all follow to the door and when i come back surround us.

It was awful when my old one didnt come back they where all out of sorts for ages

I suppose sometimes they dont understand our fragile skin lol

My cat is VERY submissive, i know how wrong this sounds but she likes being spanked...sometimes she will do bad stuff just to be told off...and that includes biting/scratching/walk by swipes lol...
