on my x reg Expert van comes on for a few seconds when i start the engine then goes off.
occasionally coming on for a few seconds and then going off again .. so its mostly off .
whether its turned off or on on the heater control it still kicks in then dies .
it used to be mostly on when i first bought the van 3 years ago.. now I
have replaced the slider control thingy with a 2nd hand one but its made no difference .
the problem is the same .any advice gratefully received. |

This. It looks as though you have an intermittent open circuit. Invest in a workshop manual and try continuity testing the whole wiring loom. You can make a tester using some wires, a 12v LED and cheap old transparent pen body. |

Put a direct feed to the motor with a power probe... or just a length of wire. If the fan motor runs and the bearings sound ok, I'd say as mentioned, intermittent open circuit or rheostat. It would probably be easier to again just replace the offending wire or go to a scrapyard for parts... its X reg, it's not going to last forever. |
