Either/or depending on the photo. Some work well one way, some t'other. Can't help noticing OP that despite your preference you have gone for a colour pic as your avatar?

I like both and they each have their uses. Some people seem to fit black and white better, but I have a soft spot for color photos. I like vibrancy and color on a profile.

I prefer a nice balance. As someone mentioned there are pictures that will look good in black and white and others better in colour.

Black and white is more forgiving than colour. On a profile i like a good mix.

I like both...if there's not much striking colour wise then I tend to turn it black and white but colour can be much more eye catching.

I like a mix of both ... but until I learn how to use my decent camera properly, as in setting it up to get good results in different lighting conditions, I've found colour pics sometimes turn out a bit odd and not particularly lifelike .... whereas black and white pics get rid of strange skin tones etc.

I just added 6, 4 black and white and 2 non filter so I guess I do prefer black and white
