Have been on ebay and amazon looking at lights for photos , but theres so much choice and I know nothing so any help would be appreciated .

Choices will vary according to what you want to do, and governed by your camera equipment.

LED video lights are good if you have control over the brightness. They can be as cheap or as expensive as you like.
