I work in a hotel - Turkey and Tinsel season has started. For at least 8 hours a day I'm faced with a huge xmas tree complete with scary fairy. A horrendous amount of tacky foil decorations. 3 xmas CDs on a loop and xmas day every Wednesday. I wrapped a shitload of corportate logo mugs. I'm done. Christmas can fuck off. |

I love buying and wrapping the presents and I love imbuing in my son the excitement I used to feel when I was a child at Christmas ...
the only thing neither of us like about it is Christmas dinner so this year will probably be pizza again  |

I walked past a house in my street with their decorations up already, tree'n'all. Thinking about knocking on the door & asking them to just stop it, haha. |

Been driving me mad all weekend...our Tesco has trees, gift sets, the works...and the response I got to my Tweet that it was far too early?

Which to an extent I can understand....but as I pointed out, when it comes to decorating the store with trees etc and some of the items they are selling having an end of November sell/use by date....their argument is a little flawed!!

I really dont like how consumerism has taken over every Callander event of religion, good will or days rembering historical events,
As soon as Xmas is gone it will be, valentines marketing then easter etc,etc,
I would love to be able to celebrate these days without being totally robbed by how life and consumerism is today,and appreciate them for what they are,,,,,, anyway rant over   |
